Carter Kocik: C/OF, (2022) Black River, OH. 6-foot, 190-pound. At the plate, Kocik had a max exit velocity of 89 mph. (66.30 mph bat speed average). (21.46 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a tight load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed was efficient quick, used an upward simple swing plane and high finish. At the plate, Kocik was ranked 2nd with an exit velocity of 90 mph.Starts in an athletic stance with a big controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed was average, and used a level swing plane. Smooth in the infield, displayed a velocity of 77 mph; had a clean exchange, soft hands, and smooth consistent footwork. Capable in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 79 mph; has developing feet, a developing exchange, and sure hands. Movements laterally were average and he fields the ball out front. While catching, throw downs to second topped out at 77 mph; had a clean exchange, soft hands, and athletic footwork. Showed his ability to throw runners out with an efficient pop time of 1.90-2.01. Above average flexibility and clean setup. Had consistent accuracy. Recorded a time of 7.03 in the 60-yard dash.

Hit:Right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Uses a leg kick timing trigger during back load to hands. Path is level with a rotational sequence form bottom to top. Pull side tendencies. Both strength/bat speed are above average for class.
Power:Gap abilities.
Offensive Projection:Middle ceiling.
Field:A lot to like here. Physical dude with well above average athleticism for the catcher position. Plays with high motor and has an obvious willingness to block. Very talented backstop.
Throw:Arm is a well above average tools for position/class.

2/23/20 Position Player
Hit: Powerful swing with a balanced athletic stance in the box. Hands are quicker than hips but should add more power down the road.  
Power: Gap abilities.'
Top BP Exit Velocity: 86 mph.
Top BP Distance: 250 ft.
Offensive Projection: Middle.
Field: Quiet receiving hands with quickness coming out of the crouch. 
Throw: POP between 1.09 - 1.91 and 75 mph from behind the plate.
Defensive Projection: C.

2/2/20 Position Player
Hit:At the plate the right-hander has an ambush lower half with quiet hands. Down and around path with more strength than speed presently, although natural tools are comparable. All fields hitter.
Power: Line drive pop with flashes of gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles.
Field: Nice combination of size and natural tools behind the dish. Showed a willingness to block in bullpens and showed off his solid catch/throw abilities we’ve grown to expect from him.
Throw: Arm is a well above average tool for class. Ball comes out well.
Defensive Projection: C.

Body Type:  5-foot-11, 170-pound thin and athletic frame.
Swing Mechanics:  Simple load in the lower half with a bat tip.
Hit:  Could clean up hands to create a more level bat path. Has all the natural tools to hit once that bat path cleans up.
Power:  Present gap abilities.
Offensive Projection:  TBD
Field:  Developing blocking skills.  Receives the baseball well.
Throw:  Arm works and ball comes out well. Well above average catch/throw guy for class.
Defensive Projection: C. 

8/1/18
A physical prospect with an athletic frame. Stands out for abilities behind the dish. Very quick feet/transfer back there with feel in game. Popped 2.16, 2.23 in workout, showing above average arm strength. Has all the physical tools to be a middle of the lineup type with the bat. Tends to loose barrel at times with an exaggerated bat tip load, causing an inconsistent path. Ball comes off well when squared however, showing a faster bat through the zone with heavy hands at contact.

A right-handed hitter that starts in a taller setup. Athletic load, incorporating a bat tip, leg kick combination. Can lose the barrel at times during load. Downhill stroke with a swing that offers a bit more present strength than speed. Would be aided by leveling out path to let his natural physicality show in pop/ball flight. Really looks the part behind the dish. Physical, athletic presence back there. Very quick transfer and footwork. Above average arm both strength wise and accuracy wise. Very solid catch and throw guy for class.

Really liked what I saw from Kocik behind the dish. Ideal frame for the spot with well above average athleticism for the position. Showed off athleticism by running the second fastest 60-yard dash of the day at 7.15. Starts in a lower crouch before bursting out with quick feet, gaining ground with good direction to second base. Exchange skills are well above average for class and ball comes out well. Pop times were anywhere from 2.06-2.13. At the plate he has run producer frame/natural tools. Front foot hitter that can lose the barrel at times. Downhill path with barrel authority through contact. Swing has room to clean up but the strength and bat speed is obvious.

3/4/18
5-foot-9, 145 pound prospect has a sturdy build and quick hands in his right handed swing producing a level bat path through the zone. Made solid contact in his most of his round displaying his power. Exit velocity was 75 mph. Very impressive catch and throw abilities for his age. Feet are quick and create solid direction. Exchange skills are clean and ball comes out well. Arm is a well above average tool for age. Should be a sun 2.0 guy before it’s all said and done.
