2/9/20 Pitching Delivery Notes: Big frame, projectable southpaw. Up-tempo delivery with some effort. Tends to finish towards third base. Throws from a ¾ arm slot with a long and loose arm action. Fastball: Not the hardest we have seen him, but overall a solid bullpen. Fastball was in or around the zone with slight arm side movement. Fastball Spin Rate: 1828-1920. Curveball: 1/7 shape with gradual break. Above average offering when in the lower half of the zone. Curveball Spin Rate: 1690-1850. Changeup: Developing offspeed. Thrown similar to the fastball with little movement. Just enough to keep guys guessing.
5/28/19
Body Type: 6-foot-5, 205-pound long limbed, very projectable frame. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: There is some stiffness to the delivery but it’s far from robotic. At the end of the day arm is on time and he creates energy down the mound with lower half. Fastball: 81-84 mph. Throws with intent. High spin rate guy/velo plays up a bit. Curveball: Can spin it. 1/7 breaker that sweeps into the zone at 70-71 mph. An above average offering that generates it’s fair share of swing and miss on the day. Pitchability: Tossed both offerings in the zone consistently. Additional Comments: High praise but reminds me a bit movement/stuff wise of where Noah Johnson was at this point last summer before he made his jump.
2/03/19
Body Type: 6-foot-4 200-pound prospect with long levers and a projectable frame. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Threw from a ¾ arm slot. Arm worked well, while the lower half could still improve. Fastball: 78-83 mph fastball that was mostly true but still showed some arm side life at times. Slider: 69-70 mph breaking ball that showed a slider type action with good lateral break. Rouse threw the pitch aggressively with good arm speed. Changeup: 69-74 mph changeup showed minimal action and was mostly true through the zone. Pitchability: 3 pitch mix with the fastball and slider being more advanced pitches than the changeup. Still showed adequate command of all three pitches. Role: Slightly higher effort delivery and his slider being his best secondary pitch point to Rouse being more of a bullpen type at the next level, but refining the changeup could get him in the mix in a starting role.
Scouting Report: 6-foot-4, 175-pound projectable frame with long limbs. From the mound he throws exclusively from the stretch while using regular effort to his delivery. Lands slightly more across at foot strike, finishing with his momentum carrying toward home plate. Throws with average arm speed through a ¾ slot. His fastball was thrown between 77-83 mph. Curveball is a good offering with late break to it on a 1/7 plane and has good depth at 62-65 mph
