The Toledo commit continues to get better each time we’ve seen him. A high upside bat from the left side that has always impressed with his loud combination of strength/batspeed inside his intent driven swing. Showed up at this event with a much more professional approach, adding control to swing and using the entire field. Consistently backspun balls to both gaps and displayed loft power to pull side. Worked out with both the infielders and outfielders. A second baseman type in the infield with a corner skill set in the outfield. Profiles more as an outfielder at this stage but athletic enough to grow as defender in the infield. Wherever he ends up his bat should give him a shot to crack the Rocket lineup early in his career.
60-yard dash: 6.97
Infield Velocity: 83
Outfield Velocity: 87
Exit Velocity: 87
6/13/16 Athletic build at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. Has a ton of tools to work with at the plate with a very aggressive approach. Takes absolute hacks. Has swing and miss in there but the strength and batspeed is very apparent. Drove the ball deep into the gaps during batting practice. Had an impressive exit velocity of 97 mph and ran a 4.76 from home to first. Looks athletic in the outfield with the ability to play through the ball. Above average arm with good carry on his throws.
6/6/16 5-foot-11, 180-pound athletic frame. Has advanced strength and batspeed for his age as he showed by registering an exit velocity of 96 mph. He starts closed and uses a leg kick to start his lower half before his aggressive stride forward. Tends to close off his hips with his stride causing him to be tardy at times and upper half dominate. A more efficient lower half will help his strength and batspeed go to work in game action. Batting practice is impressive when he is on time. Ran a 7.6 60-yard dash. Projects as a corner outfielder. Potential first baseman as his bat is his best tool. His arm strength is average right now and still developing feel for the position. Top velocity of 76 mph on his throws. Behind the dish, he throws from a lower slot. Creates accuracy issues. Arm strength needs to improve as he reached a top velocity of 73 mph. Pop times ranged from 2.02-2.12.
8/16/15
5-foot-11, 175-pound athletic build. Left-handed hitter with above average power for his age. Spread out and balanced with a toe tap to load. Shows real bat speed for his age and with a slightly uphill swing. Registered an impressive top exit velocity of 95 mph and ran 7.43-60. Behind the plate he starts with a wide, athletic base. Opens up on his footwork with a clean transfer. Throws from a high-3/4 slot with pop times ranging from 2.06-2.12 and 76 mph arm strength. Over at third base he tends to sit back on the ball. Average range and fields the ball into his body. Throws from a 3/4 slot with 76 mph arm strength across the diamond.
