McKay Whitaker: 1B/OF, (2022) Worthington Kilbourne, OH. Indiana Commit, 6-foot-1, 175-pound. At the plate, Whitaker had an exit velocity of 93 mph. Began in an athletic tall stance with a controlled load, then used a toe tap. Has explosive bat speed, upward swing plane and high finish. Athletic in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 77 mph; had a clean exchange, soft hands, and fluid footwork. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Had a high ¾ slot with a quick arm action. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.03.

2/9/20 Position Player Hit: At the plate Whitaker shows a simple, balanced approach. He displayed strong hands and good bat to ball ability. He keeps his barrel through the zone well for the most part although he does cast a bit at times but can get away with it a little more being a lefty. Power: 85 mph exit velocity. Offensive Projection: As he develops physically he has the look of a guy who could develop into a lefty with a swing conducive to creating natural power. High upside guy. Field: Throw: 76 mph across the diamond. Defensive Projection:
6/03/19
High ceiling hit tool from the left side. Swing really works and he hits every time we see him. Handsy hitter with a loose, whippy stroke that generates authority through the zone. Took a very complete BP and had a multi hit game. Excited to see what he looks like as a hitter as he fills out over the next few years. Also runs well and shows a capable skill set over at first base.
8/01/18
A high follow in 2022 class. Stands out for present abilities and upside at the plate. Where projectable frame with high waist/broad shoulders and a ton of projection left. Very fluid, easy stroke from the left side. Barrel whips through contact with authority and he can spray it all over the field. Also is an above average defender over at first base. A well above average athlete over there with feel for the spot.
7/10/18
Long limbed, high-waisted athlete that has a chance to be a beast physically once he finds the weight room. Swings it from the left side with a ton of feel for finding the barrel. Drove the ball with authority in BP and recorded a multi hit game in BP. Big upside as he adds strength to go along with his feel in the box. Checks all the boxes at first base as well. Obviously comfortable over there with an above average skill set across the board. Actions are fluid and ball skill were impressive.
Ideal frame college coaches look for with long levers, wide shoulders and high waist. A functionally athletic kid that moves light on his feet around the bag at first base. Didn’t get many attempts in game over there but the actions pass the look test. At the plate he starts movements very early, allowing for consistent timing. Sees the ball well and didn’t expand the zone. Showed the ability to work counts and attack the fastball early in counts. More feel than explosiveness at the plate presently.
