Matthew Spencer: OF/LHP, (2022) Hilliard Darby, OH. 6-foot-2, 190-pound athletic frame. At the plate, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 86 mph. Started in a tall stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Had a level swing plane, and his bat speed was average. Smooth from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 76 mph; showed soft hands, smooth fluid feet, and a clean exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball one hand. Clocked a time of 7.69 in the 60-yard dash.

6-foot-2, 180-pound athletic projectable body frame. In the outfield he has fluid footwork while taking good routes to the ball consistently fielding with one hand off his right foot. Throws with a clean arm action through a high ¾ slot reaching a velocity of 69 mph. On the mound he throws with regular effort to his delivery landing in a straight line at foot strike. Has average arm speed coming through a ¾ slot. Fastball was mostly true through the zone ranging from 68-72 mph. Curveball is thrown on a 1/7 plane with some depth and mostly gradual break at 54-60 mph. Throws the changeup with fastball arm speed at 61-62 mph. Left-handed hitter starts in a tall stance using a short leg kick to initiate his lower half. Has a fluid load with his hands moving just past his back shoulder swinging with a mostly level bat path through the zone. Showed the ability to hit the ball to both sides of the field during BP while reaching an exit velocity of 83 mph. Ran a 7.61 60-yard dash.

Body Type: 6-foot, 160-pound thin frame. Swing Mechanics: Simple load with minimal movement that engages his hands well. Hit: Level bat path that works inside the baseball and has a backside approach. Impressive showing with the bat. Definite one to follow. Power: Gap abilities. Top exit velocity off the bat in BP was 79.7 mph. Offensive Projection: Run producer ceiling. Field: Solid showing in the outfield. Looks athletic and comfortable out there. Mechanically sound with consistent rhythm. Ball skills are there. Throw: Clean artm with already solid strength and more to come. Defensive Projection: Multiple Spots.
Body Type: 6-foot, 160-pound thin frame. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Fluent delivery with athletic motions. Low effort guy with a repeatable delivery. Southpaw throws from a ¾ arm slot. Long arm action with developing arm speed. Fastball: 72-76 mph. Comes in on a downhill plane showing slight arm side run. More velocity to follow as he fills out. Curveball: 62-63 mph. Good feel for his breaking ball. 1-7 shape with gradual break. Pitchability: Threw a quick and efficient inning filling up the zone with both offerings. Worked primarily away finding the target.
11/10/18 A left-handed hitter that starts in a tall stance. Uses a slight back load with hands during short stride for timing. Launches from a balanced setup, taking a level path to contact. Compact stroke with line drive abilities. Showed a feel for squaring up the baseball. Contact type hitter who should see more pop as physical maturation takes its course. In the outfield he plays with quick, short footwork in his approach. Plays one-handed through, maintaining most of his momentum into his throws. Arm is loose, projecting for more strength down the road. Spencer showed a long projectable frame on the mound. Utilizes his long levers well and gets good extension towards home plate. His fastball showed some sink at 67-70 mph and showed better command to his arm side. His breaking ball sat 57-59 mph and showed good potential with added velocity. His changeup had a fading action and sat 60-63 mph. He showed good command of the changeup to both sides of the plate. 60 yard dash: 8.16 Outfield Velocity: 74 Exit Velocity: 69
6/26/18 Two-way prospect. A tall, lanky southpaw on the bump. Effortless delivery with his length really allowing him to get out toward the plate prior to release. Very efficient mechanically with fluid actions. Offers a three pitch mix through a ¾ slot. Fastball has heavy run to it sitting 68-70 mph. Breaking ball has gradual action on a 1/7 plane at 56-63 mph. Changeup shows similar heavy run that fastball offers with a bit more dive at 61-63 mph. Liked what I saw as a position player as well. Very projectable lefty bat with physicality through the zone. Creates impressive pop with a lower effort stroke. Ball jumped off the barrel. Definite bat to follow. In the outfield he plays with athletic actions and above average ball skill. Arm is super loose/clean. Much more velo to come. Through to home plate with accuracy. 60-yard dash: 8.13 Outfield Velocity: 68 Exit Velocity: 71
