2/9/20 Position Player Hit: Onate shows a mini leg kick to initiate his load and has a slight hover of the front foot before getting it down to really start his swing. Shows a bat path that borders on uphill but for the most part is on plane with the pitch. Power: 76 mph exit velocity. Offensive Projection: Shows a fairly small frame but a swing that might be able to compensate for some size deficiencies as he gets stronger. Could develop into a gap to gap guy. Field: In the infield he waits on the ball a bit too much and shows average footwork but does show a quick arm with fairly good hands. Throw: 78 mph across the diamond. Defensive Projection: Probably more of a 2B type guy at the next level unless physical tools can keep him at SS as he matures.

Breaking ball is big 11/5 bender with gradual break. Ability to throw for a strike in any count at 56-58 mph. Two-way prospect. Very smooth swinger from the left side. A lefty swinger that has efficient, fluid movements prior to launch. Finds plane well with feel for the barrel. Works to the middle of the field but will turn on the baseball when the opportunity presents itself. In the infield he is mechanically sound with advanced ball skills for age.
