Johnathon Allen: LHP, (2022) Wadsworth, OH. 6-foot-1, 175-pound. Athletic on the mound, showing good arm speed he had a ¾ arm angle and a quick arm action. Feel type pitcher who uses easy effort. Lands square with an upright finish. Curveball (77-78 mph), changeup (77-78 mph). Threw his fastball 85-88 mph.
Delivery/Scouting Notes: A prospect to keep an eye on in the 2022 class. The 6’1 LHP out of Wadsworth uses a consistent pace throughout the delivery. Hides the ball well with late aggressiveness down the mound. Up to 84 with the fastball while mixing in a slider with some late bite at 73-76 and a changeup at 72-73.
Fastball: Heavy with some late life to it
Breaking Ball: Being released from a ¾ arm action, the slider presents itself with a slurvish action
Changeup: Mimics fastball arm speed with late fade
Scouting Notes: High follow here. Generates a low 80s fastball and he isn't near his physical ceiling. You could easily see this being a mid 80s arm or higher after some weight room development. Also spins a sharp slider with quality cross action. Flashed a changeup that had similar action to fastball.
Fastball: 80-83mph.
Fastball Spin Rate: 2071-2171
Breaking Ball: 72-73mph.
Breaking Ball Spin Rate: 2004-2069
Changeup: 75-76mph.
1/25/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Long levered lefty that gets down the mound. Delivery has some serious deception to it with arm coming out of the 3/4 slot. Uber loose arm that really works. Uber high ceiling. Sky is the limit if he can fill out that frame. Young for class.
Fastball: Tough angle for guys on both sides of the plate. High velo ceiling. Topped 81 mph.
Fastball Spin Rate: 1990-2100.
Curveball: Side to side, big sweeping breaking ball. Above average offering.
Curveball Spin Rate: 1900-1950.
Changeup: Developing third offering. Loses a bit of arm speed. Stuff wise it shows potential.
Pitchability: Strike thrower for the most part.
Body Type: 6-foot, 148-pound athletically built propsect.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: A smooth arm action paired with a dynamic lower half that sits back and has a high step forward.
Fastball: 77-78mph. Arm side run that sneaks up to the plate. Shows good command locating on the corners.
Curveball: 68-70mph. More depth over action on a developing offering. Will make a good addition to his arsenal.
Changeup: 68-69mph. Nice arm side run on a solid offering that will keep hitters off balance.
Pitchability: Strike thrower.
2/2/19 Pitching
Body Type: 5-foot-11, 140 pound. Taller, lean frame with room to add.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Has a lower ¾ arm slot at release. Higher leg kick followed by nice extension downhill. Provides a quicker paced tempo in his motion.
Fastball: 72-74 mph. Showed signs of a stronger arm for his class with fastball velocity.
Curveball: 54-60 mph. Average break to it from 2-7 movement. Command is improving.
Changeup: 62-64 mph. Maintained it low in the zone with slight arm-side to towards the end.
Pitchability: Command on all pitches is developing. Has a couple more years to grow into his frame which will lead to greater abilities on the mound.
