Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Threw from a ¾ arm slot with a quick tempo. The arm action was a little long in the backside. Used his length well. Also dropped down to side arm at times.
Fastball: 76-78 mph fastball from both the ¾ and sidearm slots. Was able to create more arm side run when throwing from the lower arm angle.
Curveball: 57-58 mph was a true curveball with depth from the ¾ slot. When dropping down to sidearm the breaking ball become more slider in its shape.
Splitter: Only threw the splitter from the ¾ arm slot with the velo at 68 mph and good depth.
Pitchability: Good feel for both his fastball and breaking ball from two separate arm slots. Splitter was a bit more inconsistent.
Role: Probably profiles more as a bullpen guy because of his versatility being able to throw from multiple arm slots. His fastball/breaking ball combo from two arm slots would be particularly hard on right handed hitters.
5/29/18 An athletic kid with feel for multiple slots, pounding the zone throughout his outing. Will go over the top or drop down to the side. Fastball shows downhill action from the top and heavy arm side action from the side. Will use both sides of the plate and change eye levels with the pitch that was anywhere from 75-77 mph. With his athleticism and clean arm expect more velocity from both slots. Also tosses the breaking ball from both slots with feel for both. More of an 11/5 shape from natural slot with a slurvish loose from the side. Cruised through his outing with regular weak contact. Very tough matchup, especially for righties.
7/25/17
A right-handed pitching prospect in the 2021 class. Woolf uses an uptempo delivery that requires little effort. Works with good pace and fills up the zone. Arm action is long back, arm moving through a high-¾ slot. Offers a solid fastball/breaking ball combination. Fastball showed arm side run and he showed the ability to use both sides of the plate. Breaking ball showed depth and sharpness on a near 12/6 plane. The pitch looks to put his put away offering. Woolf cruised through his outing producing consistent weak contact. FB: 72-75 CB: 59-63
