6/14/17 Big bodied hurler who features a delivery that requires more than average effort. Uses a lot of hand and glove movement before coming through a high ¾ slot. Quite stiff throughout his motion and would be aided by loosening up and riding his lower half down the hill longer. Fastball ranged 70-75 mph. The pitch was mostly straight through the zone with slight run at times. Curveball was spun with 11/5 shape at 60-63 mph. Looked comfortable with the offering that showed sharpness when it was down in the zone. Also mixed in a changeup at 68-69 mph. Uses near fastball arm speed with the pitch. Behind the dish he starts from a lower crouch with pre set footwork. Gets out of his stance well with clean footwork. Would be aided by getting in line to second base with his feet more consistently. Exchange skills are developing and arm action fits the position. Did a nice job handling arms in bullpens. His flexible hips allow him to receive the low pitch well funneling it up into the strike zone. Didn’t have many opportunities to block but got the job done when he did. A switch hitter at the plate. From the right side he initiates his loading sequence through a fluid leg kick, Barrel gets vertical and maintains rhythm throughout load into swing decision. Path is level to slightly downhill with some whip through the zone. Bat speed is above average and he should grow into more pop as he fills out his projectable frame. From the left side he shows similar movements in load but toned down a bit. Leg kick is slightly lower and bat stays a little quieter throughout his pre launch movements. Maintains natural tools from both sides. Looks to slightly more under control from the left with the possibility to do more damage from the right. Should be able to continue to swing it from both sides moving forward. 60-yard Dash: 7.57 Catcher Velocity: 72 Pop Time: 2.19-2.28 Exit Velocity: R 82, L82
7/6/16 6-foot-3, 190-pound switch hitting, catcher with an athletic body frame. From the right-side of the plate he starts from a spread out, slightly open stance using a slight weight shift with his lower half to his back leg to generate power. Has a short, fluid load with his hands moving to his back shoulder. Swings with a mostly level bat path through the zone, finishing with a two-handed follow through, and reached a top exit velocity of 80 mph from the right-side. From the left side of the plate he starts from a more open stance, using less of a weight shift to his back leg. Loads with his hands moving slightly past his back shoulder, swinging with a more upward bat path through the zone, and finishes with a one-handed follow through. Reached a top exit velocity of 79 mph from the left-side. Recorded a 7.61 60-yard dash. From behind the plate, he shows a good transition from the crouch. Clean transfer with pop times ranging 2.04-2.21. Throws with a high ¾ slot with 74 mph arm strength. From the mound he uses regular effort to his delivery. Has a straight up and down leg kick, with a little pause at the top just before he strides in a straight line at foot strike. Throws with a short arm action, using average arm speed through a ¾ slot. His fastball ranged between 72-76 mph. Curveball has gradual break with 11/5 tilt at 62-66 mph.
