7/18/19
Body Type: 5-foot-9, 156-pound athletic frame.
Swing Mechanics: Wide stance with a small load that has minimal movement. keeps his hands loaded.
Hit: Level bat path with a pull side approach. Good feel in the box, and swings with intent.
Power: Line drive guy right now with more to come.
Offensive Projection: Top of the lineup guy.
Field: Aggressive feet in his approach prior to play through. Ball skills are on par for his class.
Throw: Over the top arm slot with loose arm action. Good arm strength that results in good carry on his throws.
Defensive Projection: Corner outfield.
Body Type: 5-foot-9, 156-pound athletic frame.
Delivery/Mechanics: Athletic delivery that features loose arm action. Everything stays pretty well connected and on time as he works down the mound.
Fastball: Has a little arm side run with good control of the pitch. More to come as he physically develops. Ranges from 75-78mph.
Curveball: Very good pitch with sharp break to it. Loopy action with potential to be a very good secondary pitch to his fastball. Ranges from 59-62mph.
Changeup: Developing pitch that he slows his arm speed down for a little. Ranges from 65-69mph.
Pitchability: Very good.
2/10/19 Pitching
Body Type: Smallish, athletic frame at 5-foot-8, 162-pounds.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Interesting prospect. Struggled with repeatability, but when he was in line and maintained direction/momentum to the plate, he showed consistency in the zone and an uptick in velo. Long arm action through a ¾ to higher ¾ slot.
Fastball: Started out 72-75 mph, but showed 76-77 mph velocity by the end of his pen. Occasional arm side run to his pitches.
Curveball: Mostly 57-59 mph. Showed 1/7 shape. Big, loopy action. Located in the zone.
Changeup: Still developing feel. Mostly straight at 67-69 mph. Shows similar arm speed, but room for development.
Summary: Knowing that he will come through Defiance High School’s pitching program adds to the intrigue. Still a young prospect, but showed flashes of potential in this outing. Interesting follow over the next three years.
2/10/19
Body Type: 5-foot-8, 142 pounds. Athletic, lean build with room to fill. Swing Mechanics: Hits out of wider, but balanced stance and with weight on back leg. Produces a level bat path as he swings through the zone. Shifted weight at times early out in front causing him to be off-balanced.
Hit: Showed ability to make solid contact in his round. Barrel action that produced several hard line drives.
Power: 82 mph exit velocity exhibiting plus bat speed for his class.
Offensive Projection: TBD but can see being a middle of the order guy to help produce runs.
Run: 7.47 60-yard. Field: Did a solid job fielding it with nice glove work. Works the baseball well getting himself in position to attack it and take momentum into his throws.
Throw: 81 mph from the outfield to home. Stronger arm for his class no doubt. Only going to improve as he fills out and gets stronger. Defensive Projection: TBD at this time. Plenty of time to develop in the great high school program he’s a part of.
6/27/18 Howard is another guy who showed a well-rounded skill set and easily could have been on this list for his glove in the outfield or his lefty stick. Drove the ball all over the yard in BP, showing above average juice with signs of power on the way. Also looked the part in the outfield. Confident, athletic actions with an above average arm. On the bump the southpaw has a smooth/mechanically sound delivery. Really gets off back side well, creating a ton of energy down the mound. Arm works through a near high-¾ slot with noticeable quickness to it. Offers a quality three pitch mix with a fastball up to 72 mph and changeup standing out amongst secondary offerings. 60-yard dash: 7.59 Outfield Velocity: 73 Exit Velocity: 70
