Body Type: 6-foot 250-pound prospect with a big frame. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Slow tempo delivery, efficient lower half works in-line. Uses a short arm action through a high-3/4 slot. Fastball: 71-73 mph fastball is mostly straight working on a downward plane. Showed occasional sinking action. Curveball: 58-59 mph curveball shows early with 11/5 tilt. Solid feel for the pitch and was able to put in the zone. Changeup: 63-66 mph changeup is thrown with fastball like arm action. Pitch showed consistent sink through the zone. Pitchability: Three pitch mix. Good feel for all offerings, filled the zone. Role: Too early to tell, likely a bullpen role in the present. Doesn’t offer any plus pitches.
1/27/18 6-foot, 250-pound right handed third basemen has some size with a strong frame. Albanese used a short stride combined with a shorter swing that displayed some good power. His swing was level and stayed in the zone enabling him to make good contact often. He recorded an exit velocity of 80 mph which will improve over the course of the next few years as he matures. Defensively, he worked out at third base, but may be destined for first base at the next level. Throws with short arm action through high ¾ slot. Accurate throws with top velocity of 77 mph. Will be aided as he plays more from his toes and fields the ball out in front allowing him to create more fluidity to his actions.
