9/22/18
Longeway had a strong, athletic frame. On the mound he used a compact arm action that creates some deception. He threw his fastball at 78-81 mph with good backspin that was creating swings and misses. He also threw a slider at mostly 67-70 mph that was producing more weak contact than swings and misses, but at times threw his slider at 65-66 mph that produced a better action and spin to generate more swing and miss potential. Also, he showed the ability to drop his arm slot down to somewhere between side arm and submarine. When he dropped his arm slot he was still able to effectively throw his fastball at 76 mph while generating more arm side run than from his traditional delivery.
8/5/18
5-foot-10, 170-pound. Right-handed hitter in catching prospect. Upright stance using a minimal stride. Showed bat speed through slightly uphill path displaying potential pull side pop. Registered and 89 mph exit velocity. Behind the plate showed soft hands in a quick transition, throws reached 75 mph and a 1.95-2.03 pop time. Also ran a 4.81 home to first.
A two-way prospect in the 2019 class. Ran a 7.87 60-yard dash. On the mound he offers a three-pitch mix, working through a high-¾ slot. Arm is relatively clean with some looseness to it. Fastball was mostly true through the zone at 74-77 mph. Spins a gradual breaking curveball at 64-69 mph. The pitch shows early, big action on an 11/5 plane at 64-69 mph. Also showed a changeup at 70-71 mph. Does a nice job of maintaining arm speed on secondary offerings. At the plate he starts in a tall, open setup from the right-side. Creates energy and timing through a leg kick with his lower half. Upper half moves back at release, generating stretch and separation. Launches from a balanced setup and takes a level path to the baseball. Does a nice job of finding plane. A middle of the lineup type bat that has routine gap pop. Topped out at 83 mph off the tee. A third baseman that looked comfortable at the spot. Plays under control in his approach. Would be aided by creating more angles with his pre-fielding footwork to play through the baseball more efficiently. Hands are soft and he displayed above average ball skills. Tossed the ball across the field with 72 mph arm strength.
