Ethan Sweat: 3B/RHP, (2023) Archbishop Moeller, OH. 5-foot-11, 180-pound. Athletic at the plate, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 90 mph. Began in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth controlled load, then used a short stride. Bat speed was quick, and he had high finish. He barreled up multiple balls during the round. Gap to gap approach. Athletic while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 80 mph; had athletic footwork, soft hands, and a quick fluid exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Recorded a time of 7.33 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, curveball (67-69 mph). Produced a fastball that came in at 80-83 mph. 

Scouting Notes:Physical presence on the mound. Works with good tempo and fills up the zone for the most part. Fastball was up to 82mph and he was able to drop in an above average breaking ball.
Fastball: 81-82mph.

Hit: Right-handed hitter that starts in an upright setup. Super physical bat for class. Turn/burn type BP. Advanced rotational acceleration up to 28gs. Ball flies when squared.

Max BP Distance: 301 ft
Field: Worked out both at third and behind the dish. Serviceable defender who has a big arm.
Throw: Arm is well above average tool.
Defensive Projection: 3B/C.

1/25/20 Position Player
Hit: Advanced bat physically for class. Simple approach mechanically followed by a stroke that has some natural loft to it. Ball flies off barrel when he connects. One of the more physical bats we've seen in his class.
Power: Loft power to pull.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer.
Top Rapsodo BP Exit Velocity: 86.6.
Top Rapsodo BP Distance: 257.
Field: Much improved across the board defensively. Worker back there with above average receiving skills/blocked everything in BP. Also worked out at third base. Nothing flashy but plays low and looks to be sure-handed. Gets the job done and has a big arm across the diamond.
Throw: Above average strength at both spots. 
Defensive Projection: C/Utility.

1/25/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Physical presence on the mound. Works exclusively from the stretch. Delivery has noticeable cleaned up from when we saw him last summer.
Fastball: Hovered in the upper 70s, touching 80. Expect more mphs down the road.
Fastball Spin Rate: 2000-2200.
Curveball: Pops out of the hand with big action. 11/5 ish shape.
Curveball Spin Rate: 1700-1900.
Changeup: 68-69 mph. Solid pitch when down in the zone.
Pitchability: Showed flashes of locating all three offerings.

Body Type: 5-foot-9, 170-pound physical frame.
Swing Mechanics: A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Barrel starts and launches from a vertical position. Lower half is simple and repeatable.
Hit: Swing works and he has a ton of raw pop behind it. Bat looked electric too and through. Absolutely landed on balls in BP, leaving the yard to pull side. Top BP we saw on the day, touching 96 mph of the bat.
Power: Some of the top raw power we’ve seen in the state in his class. 89 mph exit velocity off the tee.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer
Run: 4.62 H-1st.
Field: In the infield he plays with quick feet, attacking the baseball off the bat. Ball skills are solid for class. Moves well outside of funnel.
Throw: Strong arm with inconsistent accuracy.
Defensive Projection: Corner INF.

Body Type: 5-foot-9, 170-pound physical frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Easy delivery with a clean arm. Uses his body well, generating very easy velocity.
Fastball: 77-80 mph. Ball comes out well. Average spin rate guy with mid 90s spin efficiency.
Curveball: 62-66 mph. Above average offering for class. 12/6 shape with a nice combination of depth and sharpness.
Pitchability: Filled it up. 

2/16/19 Pitching

Body Type: 5-foot-9 170-pound prospect. 

Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Throws from a ¾ arm slot with a slow, methodical tempo. Moves relatively well and shows a feel for how to use his lower half.

Fastball: 72-75 mph fastball was mostly true through the zone.

Breaking Ball: 60-61 mph curveball showed decent spin with minimal bite.

Changeup: 60-63 mph changeup showed some sharp depth.

Pitchability: Average command of his three pitch mix.

Role: Stuff would presently profile as a bullpen arm, but as a 2023 grad how he develops physically will be the main factor in determining future role. 

Body Type: 5-foot-9, 170 pounds. Athletic, strong build with room to grow.

Swing Mechanics: Hits out of a balanced stance in the box showing a shorter loading process and quick hands. Utilizes lower half well swing with a level bat path and great intent.

Hit: Produced loud barrel action in his rounds with great contact. Stays on pitches very well for age. 
Power: Strong bat with an 89 mph exit velocity. Greater potential coming too.

Offensive Projection: Middle of the order. Run producer. 
Run: 4.5 seconds home to first. 
Field: 2.09-2.19 pop time. Behind the plate he receives the ball well while showing average footwork for his class as he improves on quickness in reactions. At third base he fielded the ball cleanly showing some nice hands. Moved well laterally too working angles to the ball exhibiting footwork and athleticism in actions. 
Throw: Solid arm strength with a 78 mph velocity across the diamond. 72 mph from behind the plate showing a strong arm and put the ball on the bag almost every time. 
Defensive Projection: Infield or catching potential in future. Plenty of time to develop abilities at both positions. 

8/1/18
A righty swinger with a simple, yet very efficient load. Slight back movement with hands during aggressive strike create both balance and separation at foot strike. When he pulls the trigger he shows a nice, level path through the zone. Hands have both speed and strength to them. Ball comes off well, giving him a middle of the lineup look. At third base he plays fast too and through with adequate ball skills. Would be aided by creating angles prior to fielding to maintain momentum into throws.

3/11/18
5-foot-8, 158 pound right handed pitching prospect with a sturdy build threw a solid three pitch mix at the event. Throws from a ¾ arm slot with nice arm action in his delivery. Mechanics flowed well together with an even rhythm and pace in his tempo. Fastball was 68-72 mph. Curveball showed average break at 56-60 mph. Changeup was 58-59 mph with nice downward run to it. Slider was solid while running away from righties and command very well. A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Uses a short stride for timing as barrel flows back to launch. A strong kid with above average bat speed for class. His natural loft in swing allows him to lift the ball naturally. Middle of the lineup bat who looks to be an extra base hit threat. Drove the ball with authority, especially to his opposite field gap. A third baseman that plays with quick footwork. Does a nice job of creating angles prior to fielding to maintain rhythm. Ball skills are above average for class and arm plays on the left side. Solid defender who made an outstanding bare hand play. Brings above average athleticim to the catcher position. Feet are very quick, creating direction and cutting down distance to second base. Exchange skills are there and he gets rid of the ball quickly. Arm slot is a bit lower than ideal for the spot but ball comes out well.
