Emmett Gillies: RHP/OF, (2022) Bishop Hartley, OH. 6-foot-3, 170-pound. Projectable on the mound, showing quick arm speed he used a loose arm action and a ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher who uses some effort. Has an athletic balance point and falling off shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Curveball (68-69 mph), changeup (77-78 mph). Threw his fastball 84-87 mph.
6-foot-3, 170-pound. Athletic on the mound, showed a ¾ arm angle and a very quick arm action with quick arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher who shows high effort. Balance is tall point with an even shoulders in his delivery. Lands closed with a recoil finish. Sat with his fastball at 87-89 mph; shows running action and control in the zone. Threw a 11/5 curveball (66-69) with sweeping action and arm side command. His changeup (79-83) shows fading action and arm side command.
2/9/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Gillies showed a thin frame with remaining projection. He threw from a high ¾ arm slot and his arm action was a bit long in the backside. Overall moved fairly clean on the mound.
Fastball: Fastball was 81-83 mph with some late life at times.
Fastball Spin Rate: 1770-1970
Curveball: Breaking ball was 64-67 mph and profiled as a true curveball with good depth.
Curveball Spin Rate: 2020-2100
Changeup: Changeup was 75-76 mph.
Pitchability: Overall good feel for his three pitch mix. His breaking ball was particularly effective due to his arm slot and came out on the same plane as his fastball. The curve could develop into an above average offering with swing and miss potential.
