Dylan Thatcher: 1B/OF, (2022) Madeira, OH. 6-foot, 190-pound. At the plate, the left-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 93 mph. A guy that continues to impress at the plate. Love the combination of smooth actions and burst he is able to create. A guy that can presently run the gaps and should be able to play over the wall as he progresses. Middle of the order bat. Also looked the part defensively. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.55.

Athletic in the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 85 mph; had smooth athletic footwork, a clean exchange, and soft hands. Fields the ball one hand, movements laterally were athletic. Hit: Physical bat from the left side. doesn't get cheated up[ there. Landed on balls in BP through a pull side approach. Power: Easy gap pop. Offensive Projection: Middle. Max BP Exit Velocity: 93 mph Max BP Distance: 326 ft. Field: Corner skill set. Moves with a fluid tempo throughout sequence. Ball skills are serviceable in the outfield and above average over at first base. Throw: Above average/accurate arm. Defensive Projection: RF/1B.

2/22/20 Position Player Hit: Left sided hitter with a slight leg lift that drives the power through his back hip. Very impressive young bat to follow. Power: 99mph exit velo with a max distance of 267 feet. Offensive Projection: Gap to gap power hitter, run producer potential.

Body Type: Solid frame for a freshman. Shows strength in his lower half. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Initiates windup with rocker step outside his body. At times, he has some balance issues as he comes back into his leg kick. When in sync, his lower half stays in line and he gets long with the front side. Long arm action through high 3/4 slot. Fastball: Sat in the upper 70s, topping out at 79 mph. Some natural cut to the ball. Curveball: Tended to be up in the zone at 63-64. Will benefit as he stays on top of the pitch and develops consistent release point. Changeup: Best secondary offering. Thrown with good arm speed at 69-71 mph. Sells the pitch well. Summary: Definite follow. Already has solid FB-CH combo and if the breaking ball comes along, he could be a mid 80's, 3-pitch type guy by the time he reaches his junior year.
Body Type: 5-foot-11 180-pound prospect. Swing Mechanics: Starts in an open stance and uses a front hip hinge load. Takes a flat bat path to the ball and keeps his barrel through the zone fairly well. Hit: Good bat to ball ability. Power: 89 mph exit velocity. Offensive Projection: Shows above average raw power for a 2022. Swing is balanced and is able to make quality contact. Should work on his bat path matching the plane of the pitch more. Should develop into a gap to gap threat. Field: At 1B he shows good feet and feel around the bag. Quick arm. Throw: 75 mph across the diamond. Run: 4.75 home to first. Defensive Projection: Checks the boxes defensively at 1B for the next level.

Although he plays first base at an above average clip, Thatcher stands out for his hit tool. The lefty hit fourth for the Legends and didn’t disappoint when we saw him, going 4 for 5 with 2 extra base hits. Frame is athletic and physical enough to fit in the middle of the lineup. Swing is smooth with nice, natural loft to it. Stronger than he is fast with the bat presently, but bat speed is far from a deficiency. Physical traits were impressive but equally as impressive was his approach, knowledge of the strike zone and ability to see spin.
