Scouting Notes: High follow in 2022 class. Fastball up to 85mph on this day and we've seen up to 87mph this winter. Complemented the fastball with a sharp, mid70s breaker with quality down action. Talented arm to keep an eye on. Fastball: 82-85mph. Fastball Spin Rate: 1928-1978 Breaking Ball: 75-76mph Breaking Ball Spin Rate: 1888-2009

2/23/20 Position Player Hit: Right handed hitter. Open athletic stance, while using a subtle leg lift to go along with a smoother loading sequence. Slightly uphill bat path, creating natural lift and the ability to give balls backspin. Power: 91 tee ev. Easy Gap Abilities Offensive Projection: Middle of the order with run producing abilities Field: Worked at 3B. Solid, respectable actions in the field. Throw: 86 INF velo. Above average arm strength Defensive Projection: Third baseman/ corner outfielder
2/09/20
2/9/20 Pitching Delivery Notes: Bourn has a controlled, measured tempo to his delivery. He throws from a ¾ arm slot and efficiently shifts his weight down the mound. Fastball: The fastball was 84-86 mph and was mostly true through the zone with some fade to the arm side. Curveball: His breaking ball was 70-71 mph with curveball shape. Didn’t show a ton of bite and more of a tumbling action. Changeup: The changeup was 77-78 mph. Pitchability: Average feel for his secondary pitches but good feel and command of the fastball. Good candidate for another velo spike. Moves well and maximizes his long levers.
6/03/19
Body Type: 6-foot, 175-pound athletic and projectable frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Tight arm action with good incorporation of lower half. Overall efficient mechanics.
Fastball: 80-83mph with arm side movement. In the zone with potential to command both corners of the plate.
Curveball: 68-71mph. True 12/6 movement with bite. Most utilized pitch. Above average offering. Pitchability: In the zone most of the time with both pitches.
Additional Comments: Young athlete with projectable frame.
Swing Mechanics: Tall and smooth load into lower half.
Hit: Has good feel in the box with an uphill bat path. Right now he is strong over fast.
Power: Flashed pop to the pull side with slight top spin. More to come as he adds size.
Offensive Projection: TBD.
Field: Quiet actions. Not a flashy defender but reliable.
Throw: Arm plays on the left side.
Defensive Projection: 2B/3B.
2/17/19
Body Type: 6-foot, 175 pound athletic frame with room to add.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Above average athletic movements. Great load of lower half with a loose arm action. Throws with great intent.
Fastball: 81-82 mph. In and out of zone, but showed life through the zone.
Curveball: 66-68 mph. 12-6 shape. Showed swing and miss potential at times, but still developing into a consistent above average pitch.
Changeup: 74-78 mph. Above average pitch. Showed lots of arm side run and sink.
Pitchability: Fastball showed great life, but needs to be in the zone more with the fastball. Change-up was the best of the secondary offerings with the curveball showing swing and miss potential at times.
Additional Comments: Above average athletic ability. Velocity should jump as strength increases. Development of secondary pitches and increased velocity will make him one of the top right-handed pitching prospects in the state. Reminds me of Sam Wilson (‘17 class, OSU commit).
Swing Mechanics: Wider stance in the box with some bend. Quieter loading process with a slight uphill bat path. Generates energy very well in his swing.
Hit: Contact made was nice overall. Barrel action present in swings with consistency improving in his future.
Power: 87 mph exit velocity producing solid strength in his bat. Pull-side power.
Offensive Projection: Middle of the order.
Run: 7.32 60-yard.
Field: Athleticism displayed in his defensive actions. Hands were soft fielding while footwork presented well and takes good angles as he approaches the baseball.
Throw: 78 mph across the diamond. Accurate too with arm strength.
Defensive Projection:Middle infield.
8/01/18
A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Leg kick/hands back load into a front side launch. Physicality is noticeable through the zone on a downhill path. Ball comes off well. Should see more natural lift by launching from a balanced position, creating more loft to stroke. In the infield he has fluid actions and covers a ton of ground. Actions are very athletic on the move. Middle type with an accurate arm across the diamond. Solid player all-around.
5/04/18
RHP/Infielder prospect with a projectable/athletic build. Velocity is there on the bump, sitting 74-78 mph. Filled up the zone with the offering that had some slight arm side actions. Spins a quality breaking ball that has late action on an 11/5 plane. Also offers a changeup that will run and dive. Does a nice job of maintaining arm speed on both secondary offerings. As a position player he played a solid second base and hit out of the three-hole for a loaded OEB lineup. Actions are athletic in the box going with a double tap for timing as hands flow slightly back to launch. Path is level with noticeable strength to hands at contact. Ball jumps when squared up. Didn’t get a ton of chances in the infield but looks to be a reliable defender.
3/04/18
5-foot-9, 160 pound athletic two-way prospect was a top performer at the event showing a good three-pitch mix on the mound. Bourn has a strong arm out of a ¾ arm slot with fluid mechanics. His fastball sat 78-80 with arm side run. Curveball showed tight spin with command at 61-64 mph. Tossed the change up consistently in the zone with arm side and downward action at 69-73 mph. Very projectable body with a live arm. Stood out at the plate. Swings it from the right side with a smooth, level bat path. Creates early bat speed and good barrel direction allow him to extend through contact. Lower half is efficient and creates solid energy into contact. Topped out at 84 mph off the tee. In the infield he is sure-handed and fundamentally sound. Can get flat footed at times inside funnel but looked fluid and athletic on the move. Arm is a well above average tool for class.
A young, talented prospect with advanced abilities on the mound. Very polished for his age, showing a mechanically efficient/repeatable delivery. Displayed the best changeup of the day, maintaining arm speed on the offering that has late fade to it. Setting up his changeup was his 78-79 mph fastball that stays mostly true through the zone. Also offers an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that has big, sharp action to it. As a position player he had a very nice showing at the plate. Initiates pre launch movement with a fluid leg kick timing trigger. Hands stay simple prior to swing decision. Bat travels on a slightly downhill path to contact and barrel gets in and out of the zone quickly. Tools are well above average for his class, also possessing the ability to create backspin to both sides of the field. Topped out at 84 mph off the tee. In the infield he uses smooth, direct footwork. Ball skills are above average for his age and glove is reliable. It shouldn't be a surprise that his arm showed well in the infield considering his performance off the bump.
6/28/17
A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced, open setup. Loading sequence is fluid and puts him in a strong attack position. Creates solid energy with his lower half. An aggressive hitter that swings with intent. Bat works on a level path and stays through contact well. Used both sides of the field and was at his best when he worked the middle of the field. Line drive type guy. In the infield he has fluidity to his actions and plays with confidence. Does a nice job playing low and fielding the ball out in front of his body. Mechanically sound all-around. Also worked out on the mound. His arm action is smooth and natural at ¾. He does a great job of getting his whole body into each pitch, visibly gathering his momentum from the ground up. His lower half stays in line with the plate through release point while torquing his upper body. The fastball had some developing glove side cut while staying downhill. He showed confidence in the curveball in all counts. It came in with a 12-6 trajectory. His changeup appears to still be developing with a slightly slower arm speed than the fastball but provided a change of pace.
