6/20/18 A righty swinger that starts in a balanced setup. Simple load that leads him to a balanced launch. Level path with noticeable strength to hands. Simple yet powerful swing. 2/4/18
5-foot-10, 165 pound infield prospect fields from a wide stance than could use some narrowing to get him more athletic and lead to greater mobility and quickness getting to the baseball. Porter’s glove was good for the most part as he just needs to work on coming through the ball better rather than stopping all his momentum once fielding it. He recorded 76 mph throwing velocity across the diamond with a longer arm action. While hitting, he swings a level bat path from the right side. His hips worked well generating good rotation and some force with sometimes rotating too early causing him to pull off. Porters hit 84 mph on his exit velocity showing good power and it was observed throughout his round as he stoked several balls hard.
1/15/18
Ran a 7.0 60-yard dash. A right-handed hitter that starts in a taller stance. Incorporates a simple loading sequence, taking his hands back during his short stride. A strong kid with a quick bat through the zone. Path is level to slightly downhill. Swings with intent and flashed gap pop. Ball came off well when he stayed through contact. Has the tools to hit in the middle of the lineup. Recorded an exit velocity of 83 mph. In the infield he plays with an uptempo pace, attacking the baseball with direct footwork. Plays low as he fields the baseball in the middle of his body. Maintains rhythm laterally and has confidence in his glove. Threw across the infield with 74 mph arm strength.
