A right-handed hitter that starts in an athletic stance. Uses a slight back load with hands during leg kick timing trigger. Nice, compact stroke with easy lift. Stays inside the baseball with, generating natural ball flight to opposite field gap. Middle of the lineup type guy with a balanced offering of strength and speed through the zone. Minor path issue that limit backspin to pull side but should be easy fix. Natural tools are obvious through the zone. In the infield he plays with fluid actions. Feet work well and glove is reliable. Very physical bat from the right side. Showed off an intent driven swing with obvious natural tools through the zone. Ball jumps off his bat, working through a middle-away approach. Generates easy gap pop with untapped power in there. Middle of the lineup type skill set. At third base he showed quick feet and soft hands. Actions are fluid and he maintains them on the move. Bat is top tool but also projects to be a more than adequate defender at third base.
6-foot, 180 pound infield prospect had a good glove at shortstop fielding each attempt well. Greiner can improve his fielding by working through the ball more with his glove rather than letting it come to him. His throwing velocity was 74 mph showing good arm strength and accurate throws to first base. Greiner’s footwork can improve to become more fluid which will allow him to get to balls more quickly. Offensively he showed a good bat with a balanced stance and smooth swing aided by quick hands. He does a good job producing positive momentum in the swing. That showed as he recorded an 88 mph exit velocity. Greiner has good overall strength and plenty of upside. On the mound, the right handed pitcher displays a strong delivery while throwing through a high 3/4 slot. Displays quickness in arm speed while throwing his 80-82 mph fastball. Fastball offers good heavy arm-side run late in the zone. Still developing but his breaking ball displays some sharp bite with 12/6 type movement; sits 66-67 mph. Also mixes in a 72-73 mph changeup that he displays good deceptive arm speed with.
6/21/17
A right-handed hitter that starts in an open setup. Gets back to even through a double tap load and controlled stride. Path is level and he swings with intent. Drove the ball with authority when he found the barrel. Worked predominantly to his pull side. Middle of the lineup type guy. In the infield he does a nice job creating angles with his pre fielding footwork. Actions are confident and flashy. Glove skills are well above average for his age. On the mound he is mechanically efficient and brings athleticism to the bump. Arm is clean and loose. Works through a high-¾ slot with above average arm speed. Fastball comes out of his hand well sitting 77-80 mph. Breaking ball was very impressive. Puts good spin on the pitch that showed sharpness and depth on an 11/5 plane. Looked confident with the offering that came in the zone at 67-70 mph.
