6/5/18
Johnson really impressed me with his performance. Has the intangibles behind the dish college coaches are looking for with an above average skill set physically. At the plate he has a powerful swing from the right side that generates easy gap pop with some loft power to pull side. An immediate impact prospect on both sides of the ball at the right level.

2/4/18

A right-handed hitter at the plate. A run producer type bat with a fluid, efficient loading sequence. Finds plane well and has the ability to accelerate the barrel early. Strength and bat speed both project as above average tools. Johnson has present barrel feel with the ability to drive each gap. Swing looks to play in game as well, with signs of loft power in there. Also impressed behind the dish. Checks all the boxes and looks well versed back there. Feet work well and transfer was clean. Arm action fits the position and looks to have more strength to come. Consistently put the ball on the bag at second base.

6/21/17

A right-handed hitter that starts in a tall, open setup. Uses a short stride to get back to even. Upper half moves back to launch during his forward movement. Strong kid with gap to gap pop. Path is flat and the ball comes off his bat well. Middle of the lineup type guy. Behind the plate he starts in a low crouch, showing flexibility to his hips. Footwork is mechanically sound. Exchange skills are average at this stage. Arm action is ideal for the position.

1/22/17

5-foot-11, 200-pound prospect. At the plate he starts open and gets to even with a short stride. Hands move back to launch before taking a short, compact path to the baseball. Above average strength and bat speed. Consistently showed the ability to produce backspin on his line drive in batting practice. Worked to both sides of the field. Gets rid of the ball quick behind the dish. Shows quick, fluid footwork. Hands move quick and naturally back to his ear in his transfer. Would like to see him get downhill more on his throws.

6/23/15
5-foot-10, 185-pound average body frame. From the catcher’s position he has good footwork to get himself turned and in line with his throws down to second base. He has a good, quick transfer for his age. Throws with a clean, short arm action coming from a ¾ slot using 69 mph velocity to produce pop times between 1.99-2.04. Right-handed hitter starts with his weight slightly more towards his back leg. He uses a fluid hands back load to his shoulder. Swings with a level bat path through the zone, finishing with a two-handed follow through. He reached a top exit velocity of 76 mph and ran a 4.65 out of the box down the line to first base.
