6/26/18
6-foot,180-pound prospect with room to physically mature. Very low effort delivery with slight inward turn at the top of the leg lift. Long arm action with slight jab at the bottom through a near high ¾. Throws with some downhill plane while showing the ability to dot the fastball at 74-78 mph. Curveball is spun with confidence in 11/5 plane as feel is present at 64-66 mph. Slider ihas 10/4 break at 67-68 mph. Also mixed in a changeup at 68-69 mph. Threw strikes with each of the offerings while the curveball seems to be the best offspeed option. Two-way prospect. At the plate he swings it from the right side getting things going with a small leg lift. Load is athletic and smooth. Nice, level path with loft at times. Offers a balanced combination of strength/speed through the zone. Showed some feel for the barrel in BP, generating natural ball flight to the middle of the field. Contact type bat with occasional authority. A corner type in the outfield with fluid actions. Ball skills are on par for class and he showed an accurate arm to home plate.
60-yard dash: 7.84
Outfield Velocity: 72
Exit Velocity: 79
1/18/16
5-foot-11, 165-pound strong, thick build On the mound he threw from a 3/4 slot with short, clean arm action. Lands open at foot strike and tends to fall off to the third base side. Threw a 69-72 mph fastball and complimented it with his curveball that has some sharpness at an 11/5 tilt. Also mixed in a changeup at 58-62 mph. Ran a 8.15 60-yard dash. A right-handed hitter that start with a tall, open stance and squares himself up with a leg kick. As he strides forward he takes his hands back and uses a level bat path to get in and out of the zone. Exit velocity was 75 mph. From the outfield he fielded the ball nicely, on his glove side foot and was able to carry momentum into his throws. Threw from a high 3/4 slot with 74 mph arm strength to home plate. In the infield he showed a quick exchange but has a tendency to field the ball on his heels. Had a top velocity of 69 mph across the diamond.
3/14/15: As an 8th grader, Caleb displays a balanced set up with a short stride. His hands do not load. His bat speed is average with a short bat path to the ball. His exit velo was 71mph. Caleb’s backside will need to get through the ball better as he matures. His fastball was heavy and thrown for strikes at 69-73mph. The curveball had 11/5 shape with gradual break at 54-57mph. Caleb’s change-up was straight and thrown for strikes. Defensively, his hands were average and footwork needs improvement. As he matures, he will need to play through the ball better. He ran a 8.15 60yd dash. His arm strength was one of his best assets at the showcase.
