6/19/18 The 6-foot-4, 180-pound physical southpaw pitching prospect. Uses a delivery that requires no more than regular effort and works directionally in line with home plate. The arm action creates some deception while staying hidden on the backside until coming through a high ¾ slot. Fastball ranges from 70-72 mph while some run to the arm side working away from RHHs. Curveball is thrown with a break and spun at 57-58 mph. Also mixed in a changeup at 63-64 mph. A right-handed bat that starts in a balanced stance. Goes with a leg kick for timing while keeping hands quiet prior to launch. A front foot hitter that takes a slightly downhill path to contact. Swing has some intent, offering more present strength than bat speed. Worked the middle of the field in BP, showing line drive abilities. A first baseman with the frame for the spot. Does a nice job varying depth off the bag to create the hop he wants. Looks to have feel for the spot. Glove was reliable in the defensive eval, making all the plays that came his way. 2/3/18
Two-way prospect. Brings projectability to the mound at 6-foot-4, 195-pounds. Works with a slower paced tempo. Delivery is easy as arm moves through a high-¾ slot. Arm action is long/clean with looseness to it. Expect more velocity sooner rather than later. Presently sits 71-73 mph with the fastball that shows slight run. Breaking ball moves on a 1/7 plane with gradual action at 56-59 mph. Also will toss a changeup that has similar action to fastball. Defensively, the first baseman has the frame for the position. Moves well off the bag and displayed adequate ball skills. Looks to be well versed at the spot. At the plate he starts in a balanced setup prior to getting into his leg kick load. Hands stay simple prior to launching the bat through the zone on a downhill path. Does a nice job of maintaining balance through swing. Hands will drift at times. A candidate to hit in the middle of a lineup as he has the frame just needs bat speed to catch up to strength as he matures physically.
