The 6-foot-5 hurler is far from an unknown on the recruiting scene as he has been a follow for college coaches over the past season. Expect that trend to continue as the right-hander turned in his top performance thus far. Frame was noticeable leaner/more athletic and his delivery has cleaned up a ton since the summer. Ball now comes out with much less effort while showing a velocity jump, consistently sitting 83-86 mph. Breaking ball was also sharper with still more depth to come. Soltis should be a high follow coming into the spring/summer.
7/25/17 An impressive right-handed pitching prospect in the 2019 class. Very physical, projectable frame. Works with an uptempo pace to a delivery that requires some effort. Arm speed is well above average and he works through a high-¾ slot. Throws a heavy fastball with cut. Works both sides of the plate and can change eye levels. Spins a very sharp breaking ball with depth. The spinner works on an 11/5 plane, acting as his out pitch. FB: 80-85 CB: 69-72
6/6/17 A talented arm in the 2019 class. The right-hander is mechanically and arm action is clean. Arm speed is well above average while working through a high-¾ slot. Showed a nice velocity jump from when we saw him in the winter. On this day he sat 81-84 mph with the fastball. Consistently challenged hitters with the pitch, rarely going to his secondary offerings. Flashed a breaking ball that had some tightness to it on an 11/5 plane at 71-72 mph. Also showed a change-up near fastball arm speed at 78-79 mph.
1/29/17 A very physical frame at 6-foot-4, 240-pounds. Worked through a high-¾ slot with above average arm speed. Sat 78-81 mph with his fastball that showed run at times. His breaking ball is the better of his two off-speed pitch, and one of the best we saw all day in general. The pitch has sharp, downward action with depth. Has some swing and miss to it. Also showed feel for a changeup.
7/26/16 An intimidating presence on the mound with a 6-foot-4, 240-pound frame. The righty has three pitches in his arsenal while working through a high-3/4 slot. Above average arm speed. His fastball was anywhere from 77-80 mph while working on a downhill plane. Curveball showed gradual break with an 11/5 shape at 68-69 mph. Changeup showed signs of being a very good pitch and should be as he improves feel.
