8/6/17

On the bump, the right-handed pitching prospect bring a tall, athletic frame. The prospect begins his delivery with a smooth rhythmic wind-up. Offers a load, quick leg kick into his delivery. Uses a backdrop step in the beginning of his wind up, and creates solid energy from a low back leg hip drive. A low powerful downhill drive into his finish. Arm moves quickly from a tight high ¾ slot. Finish brings him to a slight fall-off to the first base side. Fastball is located well with slight arm side run into right-handed batters. Complements his fastball with a good breaking ball. Curveball has good movement and breaks at an 11/5 path. Slight drop in the delivery spot when he goes to his offspeed. Offers a third pitch changeup that is located well with some solid movement. Works best when he is able to get ahead in the count and mixes in offspeed keeping hitters off balance.

2/1/17
6-foot-2, 190 pounds with a solid, tall frame. On the mound, he works the zone with a solid three-pitch mix. Max effort type delivery while using short arm action through a ¾ slot. Throws a heavy 83-85 mph fastball on a downhill plane that attacks the zone. Also mixes in a breaking ball and changeup that can record plenty of outs. The 69-70 mph curveball delivers sharp, late breaking movement on a 10/4 plane. His changeup features late sink and looks exactly like the fastball out his hand; sits 79-80 mph. At the plate the right-hander starts in a balanced setup. Gets efficient use out of his lower half through loading sequence. Hands move back to launch prior to taking a flat path to the baseball. Above average strength and bat speed through the zone. Drove the ball with authority to pull side. Middle of lineup type guy. Does a nice job of creating angles with his footwork in the infield. Above average athlete for the first base position. Projects as an above average defender at the next level.

1/31/16
6-foot-2, 185-pound thin build with room to fill out. On the mound he shows some rhythm in his delivery that requires regular effort. Good direction to the plate, landing on line at foot strike. Long back arm action into a ¾ slot with average arm speed. Three pitch mix with the fastball sitting 76-78 mph. Curveball sits 63-64 mph with gradual 10/4 break. Changeup sits 70-73 mph with near fastball arm speed. At the plate he starts in a wide, athletic stance and uses a very short stride for timing. Hands stay simple and take a slightly uphill path to the ball. Registered an exit velocity of 79 mph and ran a 5.03 from home to first. Moved well laterally at first base with the ability to field the ball out in front of his body. Threw with 75 mph arm strength across the diamond.
