A lean 5-foot-7, 140 pounds frame. Ran an 8.10 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- the right handed hitter stands in the box with a tall stance and slight bend in the knees. Simple short load and quick bat path to the hitting zone. Short compact swing. SImple approach as he displayed hard consistent contact during the hitting portion. Balanced throughout the swing. Top exit velocity 72 MPH. defensively- as a 3B, sets back when fielding the baseball, slightly upright. Soft hands and quick exchange. Quick release on throws across the diamond. Top throwing velocity was 68 MPH. As a catcher, sets in a low athletic position. Presents a big target. Above average footwork behind the dish. Quick release on throws to 2B. Top throwing velocity was 70 MPH. Pop time range 2.21-2.25.
Preseason - Downstate (February 21, 2018)
Horowitz stands at 5-foot-6, 130 pounds. Ran a 8.42-60. Offensively-Slightly wider than shoulder width stance. Hands low, below the shoulders, back load as pitch approaches with leg raise for trigger. Minimal stride. Exit velocity measured at 72-MPH. Defensively- shoulder width base to receive ball, transfer is smooth but work during the off season could improve pop time as well as arm strength which was measured at 65-MPH from behind the dish with a pop time ranging from 2.26-2.32. From the infield. Wide base, slight bend at the knees. Arm slot at a high 3/4- slot. Arm strength measured at 66-MPH across the diamond.
