Konopka is a 6-foot-3 165-pound right handed first baseman and pitcher who ran a 8.42 60 and a 5.22 home-to-1B. Tall, solid frame. Offensively- Starts tall with front foot slightly open. Bat flat on the shoulder pre load. Big leg kick for load, goes knee to knee, brings back elbow up and bat tips towards the mound. Finishes with cross-body, two-handed follow through. Drives hands through the zone, more lower half drive could see exit velocity of 69 MPH increase. Defensively- uses long frame to his advantage, gets off bag well. Footwork still developing around the bag. Pitching- Starts in the middle of the rubber, brings knee slightly past belt. Hands go over head then back down towards chest. Drives downhill, uses length well. Fastball sits 72-73 MPH with more of an infielder’s arm action. Mixed a 12-6 shaped curveball with some early break at 62-63 MPH.
