Porter, a 2018 left-handed hitting outfielder, stands at a firm 5-foot-10 weighing 155 pounds, ran a 6.97 60. Offensively- Starts with an open stance with some weight shift to the back leg the hands begin chest height below the back shoulder with the barrel perpendicular to the ground. Initiates the swing with a hand movement back getting slightly above the waist while the front leg is picked up with the stride foot making minimal movement towards the pitcher. Stayed much to the center of the field to the pull side gap with some authority. No exaggerated or wasted movements, stays pretty compact and simple throughout the swing. Finishes with a one hand getting around to the back shoulder. With a more aggressive movement and drive from the backside rotation, will increase the exit velocity of 75 MPH shown on the day. Defensively- Showed fluid and athletic movements. Balls hit on the ground, fielded more towards the center of the body rather than the right side. Showed the ability to get behind fly balls to the glove side creating positive momentum and energy towards the target. Transfer was inconsistent and could be quicker. With an adjustment made to keep the lower half more in sync with the upper half, could improve on the arm velocity of 77 MPH shown as well as create more carry on throws made from a greater distance.
