2.18.19
An athletic 6-foot-2, 188 pounds projectable frame. Pitching- the right hander displays a quick tempo repeatable delivery. Drives off the backside for power. FB (82 MPH) has late life, around the zone. CB (72-73 MPH) is sharp with some late depth. The 2020 graduate has a high ceiling. The right hander is a must follow.
Campus Series Niagara University (July 3, 2018) 6-foot-2, 185-pounds and well built for the position with a lean frame, plenty of room for size gains. Quick tempo, high knee lift, drops on his back leg for power, arm-action is deep and long, releases the ball from a high 3/4 slot, fastball sat 78-81 mph with some late life in the zone. CB was 66-67 with 12/6 shape.
Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
At the plate he uses a slightly upright approach, feet close together, with a slightly open stance. Hands load back for timing, strides back to even, barrel drops to the contact zone, barrel plane slightly uphill , backside movement on the swing. 75 mph exit velocity off a tee. Defensively, works from a corner position, wide base fields the ball out in front average transfer, aggressive on this throws to first base arm strength at 78 mph across the diamond from a high 3/4 slot. On the mound there's plenty to be excited about from the lean and lanky 2020 graduate. There is pace to his delivery, long stride using hip separation, arm - action is deep but fluid with extension out in front, fastball jumps up to 80 mph with signs of more in the tank. We are excited to see him pitch this spring/summer.
Campus Series-Canisius (July 5, 2017)
Hudson stands in at 6-foot-1, 165-pounds with a young, tall, athletic frame. Ran a 5.00 home to first. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso hold the bat above the bat shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a knee raise into a stride forward while his hands move back and down slightly to get into this hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing his hips and using the whole-body frame in the process of the swing. Has quick hands to the hitting zone with a level barrel path throughout into a high two-handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage and line drive potential up the middle and to the pull side during batting practice round. Swing is fluid and will only get better with continued development and added strength. Recorded an exit velocity of 66 MPH. Defensively- Good footwork and approach to baseball. Good fielding mechanics getting the ball into the chest with a good transition into the throwing position. Good aggressive footwork prior to the throw. Moves well left/right and in on the run. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 75 MPH. Pitching- Sets up on the left side of the rubber with a simple side step into a high leg raise above the hip crease. Breaks down well with good loose arm action with a high ¾ release point. Smooth with his delivery utilizing his whole body throughout the process of the pitching motion. Will only get better and stronger. Fastball range was 77-79 MPH and peaked at 80 MPH showing good arm side run. Curveball was 66-68 MPH with 12/6 action and tight spin. Overall a solid 2020 prospect that could potentially be a two-way player. Coaches should key on him and watch his continued development.
