Physical: Large, projectable 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame with strength throughout the build. 7.84 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Balanced, wide stance with slight bend in the knees and the hands showing some rhythm above the shoulder. Utilized a quick leg-lift stride to initiate a flat and whippy barrel path through the hitting zone with lift after contact. Generated hard contact to the LCF gap with occasional lift when pitched above the belt. Demonstrated a moderately high center of gravity in the posture during the swing while hitting into a stiff front side with some weight shift. Created loud impact when on time at the front of the plate; where he did plenty of damage during batting practice. Recorded a max of 91 mph bat-exit velocity and a top batted ball distance of 331 feet per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary first baseman featured a moderately low glove hand through the fielding window with adequate range to either side and feel around the bag. Could pick it with feel for hand actions through the baseball and an accurate, high slot allowed for carry across the diamond. 1B - 76 mph
Pitching: RHP - Deliberate pace getting up-tempo in the delivery, high leg lift at the top of the stack, gets straight line towards the target while landing even with quality extension on the front side through a loose, high slot with a full arm circle. FB played into the zone with slight downhill at 80-83 mph. Countered with a feel for a 67-70 mph CB with late depth out of the zone.
The 2021 graduate was impressive during his batting practice session at the Last Chance Fall event. Mariella works with a slight leg lift for timing and balanced before entering the hitting zone. the right handed hitter displayed pull side pop. Defensively, Mariella displayed active footwork. Fields the baseball in a slight upright position. Takes his time to gather himself when making throws across the infield. On the mound, the right handed pitcher displayed a repeatable projectable live arm. Mariella displayed a FB with late arm side run which peaked at 78 MPH. CB range was 67-69 MPH and feel for a CH at 73-74 MPH.
A strong build at 6-foot-1,190 pounds. Ran a 7.99 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- The right handed hitter stands in the box in a tall stance. Uses a slight leg lift for timing and balance before entering the hitting zone. Has a short direct path to the baseball. Slight lift at the point of contact. Good use of the lower half. The top exit velocity was 88 MPH. Defensively- As a first baseman, Fields the ball slightly upright. Has an above average exchange. Throws from a high arm slot. Moves well around the bag. The top throwing velocity across the diamond was 83 MPH. Pitching- The RHP displayed a repeatable balanced delivery and a projectable arm. The RHP takes his time to gather himself with a mid-high knee lift and smooth hand separation. Has a short arm action from a arm slot. FB has late life and peaked at 77 MPH. FB ranged from 75-77 MPH. CB ranged from 62-64 MPH. The 2021 graduate has tons of upside and is a must follow.
