NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Athletic 6-foot-3, 215-pound RHP who is just scratching the surface, focused exclusively on the mound after registering an exit velocity of 93 MPH in previous PBR events. Pitching - positive hip tilt at the balance point with full extension for a fastball at 78-79 MPH that touches 80 MPH, learning how to consistently create downward plane, getting comfortable with landing will help effectiveness,  throws 1-to-7  curveball for strikes at 59-62 MPH, has more in the tank.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)
November 6, 2016

Irvis, a 2019 right-handed hitting outfielder/RHP, stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 210 pounds, ran a
7.67 60.  Offensively- Starts with a square base a slight shift of weight to the back leg with the hands slightly off the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat pointed towards the pitch  wrapped behind the head.Initiates the swing a lift of the lead leg with very little movement to the backside while the hands are loaded straight back with limited movement as well. During batting practice, drove the ball predominantly from the pull side line to the pull gap, showing more drive and backspin towards the gap. Recorded an impressive exit velocity of 92 MPH which was a personal best.  Defensively- Approaches the ball aggressively but showing good body control. Fields the ball with the left foot behind the right right causing a bit of a delay with the sequence of the throwing motion. Shows good arm strength with a registered arm velocity of 81 MPH, matching a personal best. Pitching- Starts from the third base side of the rubber with both hands held in front of the chest. Gets to the gathered position by stepping towards the first base line with the pivot foot dragging to the center of the rubber while the hands stay chest height. Proceeds to make a slight inward rotation with the hips and shoulders with the lead knee getting above the waist. Sticks the landing with a slightly open toe and a bit of a loose front side which cost some extension on release. The fastball, thrown from a mid ¾ arm slot, topped out at a personal best of 79 MPH, showing the ability to work both sides of the plate and keeping the ball in the lower third of the zone. Curveball showed quality depth with 11-to-5 rotation, topping out at 61 MPH. Changeup showed quality differential from the fastball at 61 MPH, but the arm speed needs to be increased during the motion.
Last Chance Preview Showcase (Novemeber 29, 2015)
Tyrell checks in at 6-foot-3 180 pounds with long legs and arms and is still working into his frame. He ran a 5.15 home to 1B and had an exit velocity of 76 MPH. Offensively- Tyrell starts in a balanced and even stance with a 45 degree bat angle and a hand position that sits tight to the body, even with the letters. Minimal take back with hands a short stride with timing. Very few moving parts. Stays back well. Would benefit from additional lower half aggression and a shorter swing path. Line drive/flyball results. Defensively- Surprisingly agile for his size/age. Aggressive with his approach, needs some fine tuning with his crowhop. Above average 81 MPH arm strength for a a 2019 grad. Would like to see his arm action lengthened to provide even better carry. Pitching- Uses a slight drop step with a mid chest leg drive. Some collapse on back knee along with an open front side. Arm works from a high 3/4 slot. Overall arm path could be lengthened to allow for better build up of his arm speed. Plenty of parts that need to come together for Tyrell on the mound but he has the size and arm strength (as seen in the OF) to be a force over the long term. FB was 73-74, touching 75 MPH. Secondary pitches were compromised by shortening his arm action into release, creating to great of a differential (53-56 on CB with some 12-to-6 roll) and change up at 52-55 MPH. More feel needed here.
