Carroll is 6-foot-3 and a slender 175 pounds (up 5 pounds from Nov. 2015); ran a 7.36 60. Offensively- Hands start at shoulder level with a squared up stance. Good bat rhythm, gets hands to nice angle and is very short to the ball. Clean toe-touch stride and finishes strong and upright on back leg. High 2-handed finish with an exit velocity of 91 MPH (+9 MPH increase from Nov. 2015). Showed some pull side during BP. Defensively-81 MPH in November; ¾ arm slot and showed good athleticism. Improvements to momentum can lead to a higher velocity on throw.
Last Chance Preview (November 29, 2015)
Tim is lanky 6-foot-3 170 pounds with long and loose actions. He ran a 4.92 Home to 1B and had an exit velocity of 82 MPH. Offensively- Tim hits from an even setup with his hands out off his chest set at letter height. Bars lead arm out some during load phase with an upright bat angle. Short stride, keeping his weight back. Aggressive back foot, hip rotation. Some length in swing but stays through the zone with a high finish. Could benefit from additional weight transfer. Defensively- Starts from a traditional low setup for a corner infielder. Active with his feet, creates good angles and stays out in front. Some disruption during his shuffle step, losing momentum into throwing actions. Adequate left side arm strength at 81 MPH.
