The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: Compact, lean 5-foot-9, 155lb frame with quick-twitch athleticism. 7.16 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, even stance with a slight bend in the knees at shoulder-width as the hands operated high, in rhythm. Utilized a short leg life stride, initiating the bat head through a flat, rotational path into the hitting zone. Mostly pull-side approach, getting extended at the right time for some pull-side juice on occasion (300 foot batted ball distance, doubles power). Stayed in the legs with an adjustable swing, able to turn tightly on pitches all over the plate en route to a 40% line drive rate (good bat to ball skills).
Defensively: The primary backstop showcased a wider, medium-postured traditional setup in the crouch; received adequately with a soft glove hand. Pop times ranged from 1.99-2.08 seconds getting directional through the plate, out towards the target with lighting quick transfers/release from ¾ slot (74 mph arm, accurate on the bag).
3/06/21
Physical: 5’9 155lb C/OF ran a 6.96 laser timed 60 yard dash. Aggressive movements power both sides of his game.
Offensively: He uses an early and slow load, uses a modified toe tap/leg kick to sway his body into the pitch. His hands fire quickly through the zone and consistently make contact in front of the plate driving balls through the middle.
Defensively: He receives from a new school kickstand stance as he works his glove up through the ball. When making throws to bases he bounces to a more traditional squatted stance. He has a quick jump turn and glove to hand transfer as he drives his throws down to second. His arm work OTT allowing for throws to carry to his target.
2/19/21
Physical: 5’9 155lb OF/C ran a 6.96 laser timed 60-yard dash. Strong wiry frame has quickness and natural strength built in.
Offensively: He starts in an athletic and shoulder width stance. He uses a slow and controlled load where he keeps his body and hands quiet throughout. He fires the barrel with an aggressive flat barrel path. His natural strength and quickness play into his swing and show promise.
Defensively: He receives from a new school, one knee down stance and works his glove up through the pitch. He transitions into a more traditional squatted stance when it comes time to make throws to bases. He has an efficient glove to hand transfer with an arm that plays accurately with room to add arm strength.
8/19/20
Physical: 5-foot-8, 155 pounds; compact, lean frame. 6.96 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even stance with weight pre-loaded on his back foot, arm is pre-barred; uses a small sweep of his front foot backwards landing back where it began, hands travel slightly backward. Loads and unloads back leg effectively, quickly clearing his hips creating some hip-shoulder separation with a fairly level bat path that allows him to get around the ball. Lifted some balls to the outfield but mainly pulled some hard hit balls to left field ; peak Trackman exit velocity of 83 MPH. Defensively: Slightly up out of the crouch, appearing as a large target for the pitcher; moves feet well, keeps good posture in upper body in preparation for the throw . Firm hands, sometimes stabbing at the pitch, but a clean transfer ; good arm speed from a longer arm action that you would see from a catcher, uses his upper body to generate more arm speed. 2.13-2.21 C - 74 MPH.
