Last Chance Preview (October 30, 2016)

Wright, a 2018 right-handed hitting outfielder, stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 145 pounds, ran a 7.1 60. Offensively- Upright stance with feet slightly more than shoulder width apart hands are above the back shoulder with the bat nearly perpendicular to the ground. Creates separation with the hands and foot during the launch phase by a moderate lift of the lead foot while the hands are loaded straight back off the shoulder. Drove the ball, during batting practice, from the pull side line to the middle of the field. Showed more ability to drive the ball to the center of the field than the pull side. Recorded an exit velocity of 76 MPH on the day which will improve if the front hip stays in a bit longer keeping the hands back which should increase the bat speed as well as create more extension with the swing. Defensively- Quick, athletic outfielder showing fluid movements to the ball on the ground, fielding the ball on the glove side. Transfer takes place in the center of the body creating traditional long arm action. Throws could show more carry and velocity if the back leg created more drive, tends to lift up and get on the toes which creates momentum on an upward plane rather than staying more level and getting better extension on throws. Recorded an arm velocity of 76 MPH on the day.
