Has loose hands. Short load. Takes a short stride towards the pitcher before attacking the hitting zone. Displayed natural bat whip through the hitting zone. Hard consistent contact. Good use of lower half. Top exit velocity 91 MPH. Defensively- Sits in a low wide base. Presents a big target for the pitcher. Displayed active footwork behind the plate. Has a quick transfer and quick release on throws to second base. Top throwing velocity 78 MPH. Pop time ranged from 1.94-1.99. The 2020 Catcher is a must follow.
5-foot-11, 170, lean body, wide base receiving, long take away, average footwork, 3/4 slot release, 72 mph arm-strength with a 2.08 pop time in the workout. Added arm-strength this fall/winter will only help his game. In the box, quiet stance with minimal movement, quick strong hands to the ball, Hard contact with 82 mph exit velo.
Crusaders Workout (February 10, 2018)
Athletic 5-foot-10 170 pound right-handed hitting catcher who ran a 7.69 60 and 4.60 home-to-1B. Offensively- Even setup; slight leg kick with hands working back. Easy effort stroke in the zone, staying compact, with some lift to his pull side. Exit velocity was 81 MPH. An explosive lower half will only help him reach his ceiling in the power department. Defensively- Upright setup in secondary position, exchanges feet well towards 2B. Peak arm strength was 74 MPH from a low 3/4 slot. Throws were online to the bag with adequate transfer with his pop time range at 2.17-2.19. If able to stay lower and more compact out of the crouch he should slide under 2.10 on his pop times.
