5-foot-8, 142-pounds, Defensively, active lower half with quick actions. Smooth and well trained. Good energy and bounce. 82 mph arm-strength across the diamond. Relaxed appearance in the box, easy bat speed with signs of more in the tank. Stays compact and inside of the ball.
Preseason Downstate (Feb. 21, 2018) He ran a 7.54 60 yard dash. At the plate, slightly open stance strides back to even on the pitch. Slight load barrel moves on a slightly on an incline path full extension on front looseness throughout swing, 80 mph exit velocity off a tee. Defensively, moves to the ball with easy loose actions, wide base, fields the ball out in front with the glove open, throws from a low 3/4, 78 mph across the diamond, very quick release, active infielder with plenty of upside. On the mound, uses a slow pace to his delivery, high knee lifts separates his hands early, throws with a short quick arm action releases from a mid 3/4 slot fastball peaks at 80 mph, shows a feel for offspeed, CB 60-62.
Last Chance Preview (November 18, 2018)
Correa is a 5-foot-8, 140 pound SS/2B. He ran a 7.29 60. Offensively - Right handed hitter, with slightly open stance, minimal leg kick. Aggressive swing with quickness to the ball. Consistent short line drive swing which plays better than his exit velocity of 70 MPH. Defensively - Showed excellent footwork and body control. Hands move well to the ball. Will like to see a more aggressive approach playing through the ball vs. the extra shuffle steps before release. Showed a strong arm for his age with an 81 MPH infield velocity across the diamond. Should be able to handle both MIF positions as he matures.
Big Apple Preview (October 15, 2017)
Lean frame at 5-foot-8 140 pounds, the middle infielder ran a 7.64 60. Offensively- Slightly open stance with a quiet upper body; barrel path tracks upward some with a bit of an opposite field approach. Mix of line drives and flyballs. Exit velocity peaked at 74 MPH. Defensively- Quiet approach; settles behind the ball with an elongated arm action at times. No panic to his game, strong arm for his age at 81 MPH across the diamond.
