The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: Lean, even-proportioned 5-foot-10, 160lb frame with some athleticism present. 7.29 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Bent, upright stance as the hands showed loosely at the shoulder. Utilized a short lift and replace stride to initiate the bat head through a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Able to stay balanced with tight turns producing a 50% fly ball rate with lift to the middle of the field. Notched a T89 mph bat-exit velocity (via Trackman) featuring occasional doubles power when getting extended out in front. Mostly top of the order approach, finding singles and barrels at will when staying inside the ball; good bat to ball skills and more power coming down the road as he matures.
Defensively: The primary shortstop operated from right to left with good posture over the toes as the glove hand approached on attack mode. Funneled softly inward, releasing on time with pace from a shorter H ¾ slot (75 mph arm, accurate). The rangy defender showcased easy second base projection with quick hands and then slid over to the outfield with some positional flexibility. Got good reads off the bat and got longer in the arm action, producing accurate 75 mph throws to the plate (through cutoff man).
2/19/21
Physical: 5’10 167lb OF/SS ran a 7.14 laser timed 60-yard dash. Thin frame has room to add size and strength over time.
Offensively: He starts in a relaxed shoulder width stance with his hands relaxed just above his shoulder. He uses a simple leg lift and short hand load to begin his timing mechanism. He gets his weight loaded back early before delivering the barrel on a simple path while keeping his hands inside the ball nicely.
Defensively: He moves quickly to the ball using short choppy steps to control his center of gravity. His hands work in front of his body, using two hands to funnel into the center of his body. His arm works over the top and from the same arm slot on all throws.
2/20/20
Physical: 5-foot-8, 150-pounds. Athletic, lean frame. 7.14 runner in the 60; 4.47 home-to-1B. Offensively: RHH. Relaxed stance with his feet just wider than shoulder width apart, hands start level with his shoulder and work back on load along with a small leg kick for timing Barrel path is flat and direct to the ball, swing plane works uphill on finish. Gap to gap approach. 83 MPH raw exit velocity. Defensively: INF: Starts low and wide and fields the ball in the middle of his body and funnels the ball into his stomach, good lateral movements OF: Fields ball cleanly, plays ball to the side, consistent crow hop, accurate throws. INF: Short arm swing with an over the top slot OF: High 3/4 arm slot. INF - 73 MPH. OF - 73 MPH.
