Physical: Long, lean 6-foot-1, 180 pound frame with some twitch and strength in the actions.
Offensively: RHH: Balanced, even stance with a bend in the knees while hands have some rhythm above the shoulder. Gains some ground with a simple stride while the hands load straight back with the barrel tilting up. Quick to contact at .15 second with a slightly up hill path at a 16 degree attack angle and stays on plane at 43% efficiency resulting in hard contact through the middle and pull side with pop to pull side gap. Average Trackman exit velocity 82 MPH; peak exit velocity 91 MPH
Defensively: Walks into ready position; displayed smooth easy actions consistently beating the ball to the spot continuing his momentum through the target. The hands were soft out in front with clean transfer to a short arm action and the ability to throw from multiple arm angles. INF - 83 MPH
2.18.19
A lean 6-foot-0, 160 pounds. Ran a 7.30 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box in a tall stance and loose hands. Uses a leg kick for timing and balance before attacking the baseball. Quick to the hitting zone with a slight lift at the point of contact. Balanced throughout the swing. The 2021 graduate had an exit velocity of 81 MPH. Defensively- charges the baseball under control and stays square to the ball. Smooth funnel action to a quick release. Moves well laterally. Top velocity across the diamond was 78 MPH.
Preaseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Athletic build a 5-foot-10, 150-pounds with signs more more weight to come as he physically matures. At the plate he uses a slightly crouched stance, shoulder width apart. On the pitch he back loads for timing, toe tap with a front stride. Barrel is mostly level through contact, exit velocity was 82 mph, and expect that number to climb come summer. Defensively we really like his upside. Not the fasted currently with the foot-speed, but the natural actions are loose and easy, throws from multiple arm slots with accuracy and an arm strength of 75 mph which we also see rising. Nice looking 2021 to keep an eye on.
Academy Tryouts (November 17, 2017)
Polakiewicz stands at a lean 5-foot-10, 145 pounds. Offensively- Righty with wide stance, slightly opened, bending at the knees. Bat held at shoulder height with active hands as the pitch approaches. Small stride to engage, swing plane at an incline. Exit velocity 81 MPH. Defensively- Square loose base, fields behind the ball, smooth transition with clean footwork; 73 MPH across the diamond. Polakiewicz is both young and lean and has the potential to add power with added arm strength work this during the off-season.
