Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Strong build at 5-foot-11,170 pounds. Ran a 7.74 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively The right handed hitter stands in the box in a tall stance. Keeps his hands loose and close to the body before attacking the hitting zone. Shows a quick direct path to the baseball. Slight lift at the point of contact. Showed hard consistent contact to the middle and opposite side of the field. Top exit velocity was 88 MPH. Defensively- As an outfielder, has an aggressive approach to the baseball. Shows under control. Shows a quick exchange and throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Uses his active footwork to gain momentum on throws to the plate. Top throwing velocity from the outfield was 82 MPH. The 2020 graduate has some upside and is a must follow.
Campus Series- St. Bonaventure (July 11, 2017)
DeMember stands in at 5-foot-10, 150-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 4.89 home to first. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat out in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a quick stride forward while his hands move back slightly. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing the hips and getting the whole-body frame involved in the swing. Has quick hands to the hitting zone with an upward lift barrel action throughout into a high one-handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage with line drive ability up the middle and to the pull side during batting practice rounds. Recorded an exit velocity of 80 MPH. Defensively- Good approach and footwork getting to the baseball. Gets underneath well with an appropriate outfielder arm swing gaining momentum towards intended target. Crow hop mechanics are smooth going through the movement to get into a solid throwing position. Will only get better with added arm strength through future development. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 76 MPH. Pitching- Sets up in the middle of the rubber with a simple side step and a mid-thigh leg raise. Breaks down well with short arm separation into a high ¾ release point. Utilizes whole body frame well during delivery with consistent mechanics. Has a strong finish getting himself into a proper fielding position. Fastball range was 75-77 MPH with some arm side run. Change up range was 69-70 MPH and will need more development to take off speed from the fastball. Curveball was 66-69 MPH with 12/6 action and a sharp break.
