Physical: 5-foot-10, 160 pounds; Athletic, wiry build. 7.2 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; flat bat to start. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing a strong lower half. Showed a downward swing path with a high finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 88 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; walks into ready position while playing low to the ground. Hands work through the ball with a seamless transfer. Long arm swing from a standard 3/4 arm slot. OF - 81 MPH.
6/28/21
Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 150lb frame with room to add size/strength. 7.40 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, slightly open stance with a loose start in the hands at the shoulder. Utilized a short lift and replace stride towards the pitcher allowing for a quick, slightly uphill barrel to enter the zone through a flat path. Sudden, intentful actions out at the front of the plate producing hard contact to the pull-side of the field during batting practice. Got the most out of his body, notching a 43% line drive rate with mostly singles power at the moment (86 mph bat-exit velocity via Trackman). Top of the order type approach and let the top hand dominate the swing with stiff wrists.
Defensively: The primary outfielder read the ball well off the bat, sticking the foot in the ground with some feel for his body in space. A soft glove hand operated accurately off the left side with a clean funnel, releasing from an accurate H ¾ slot using pace (79 mph arm strength, corner outfield projection).
2/19/21
Physical: 5’9 150lb OF ran a 7.34 laser timed 60-yard dash. Thin frame has room to add size and strength with time.
Offensively: He starts in a narrow stance with his front leg slightly bent and turned in. He uses a long stride forward and some slight barrel movement to start his timing mechanism. His barrel bath works slightly down to the ball before finishing high on his follow through.
Defensively: He approaches the ball aggressively and uses short choppy steps the closer he gets to receiving the ball. He fields the ball off of his glove side foot and uses a short crow hop/pro step to allow his momentum to flow into his throw. His arms works short and clean as he gets on top of the ball and works downhill to his target.
7/02/19
A projectable lean frame at 5-foot-6, 125 pounds. The right handed hitter stands in the box ina tall stance feet shoulder width apart. Quick direct path to the baseball. Displayed hard consistent contact to the middle part of the field. Gets good extension after contact. Stays balanced throughout the swing. Defensively- the OF displayed active footwork. Smooth exchange to a high ¾ arm slot. Quiroz uses his active footwork to gain momentum on throws to the plate. Pitching- the right handed pitcher displayed a repeatable balanced delivery. Quiroz has a projectable arm and throws from a mid ¾ arm slot. Worked with a 2 pitch mix (FB & CB) at the NY. Jr state games. Quiroz has upside and will be someone to watch as he continues to develop.
