Physical: Strong, durable 6-foot, 200lb frame with a high-waist and feel in a starter’s type build; SUNY-Cortland commit
Pitching: RHP - The primary righty started from the middle of the rubber showing gradual tempo to a paused stack (balanced, just above waist height). Drove down the mound in a linear fashion, rotating downward with good repeatability through the front-side. Natural arm talent from a power H ¾ slot, gaining downhill tilt at times and leverage on the offspeed. The FB ranged from 84-86 mph at T2348rpms (55% zone rate, T23 inches IVB via Trackman). Missed barrels up in the zone turning to a sharp, two-plane CB for swing/miss at 72-74 mph (21 inches HM, -7 inches IVB). Attacked hitters early in counts with confidence, able to land both for strikes.
3/21/21
Physical: Strong, durable frame at 6-foot. 185 lbs.
Pitching: Controlled pace with a leg lift above the belt and slight coil before getting into back side as glides down the mound utilizing an efficient lower half to accelerate against a strong front side. Moderate, fluid arm swing to a clean 3/4 release.
FB: Plays with advanced life (Bauer Unit 28), ride (21.2" induced vertical) and run (20") through the zone. CB: Good feel for the high spin (2258 RPM) with plus movement ( -12.5" vertical drop & 16.7" horizontal movement). CH: Maintains hand speed with arm side fade up to 17".
8/25/20
Physical: 5-foot-11, 195 pounds; sturdy, physical frame. 7.82 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Slightly open front foot with front arm already barred out pushing his hands backwards; uses a large leg lift, occasionally landing with front toes already open which opens the hips up early. Clears what is left of the flexion in his back hips, does it on time and consistently with pulls the front shoulder up, gaining a good amount of lift on his swing at contact. Really lifted a lot of balls to the opposite field, sprinkling in some hard shots to the left side of the field; peak Trackman exit velocity of 84 MPH. Defensively: Straight legged stance, constantly moving forward keeping weight on his toes; takes prep steps into small, choppy steps toward the ball. Sits back and lets the ball travel, soft hands and a smooth funnel to the belt; extremely whippy arm out of a high 3/4 slot. INF - 77 MPH. Pitching: Methodical in windup, good tempo from leg kick down. long swing, but gets arm flipped up and ready on time. Throws from a fairly over the top slot. FB: T 82 MPH, 79-82 MPH. The fastball worked well to either corner, command is definitely present. CB: 70-71 MPH. The curveball is a good secondary pitch, good shape and depth to it. CH: 76-77 MPH. His changeup can be very good due to the slight difference in velocity compared to fastball, not too much but just enough to keep guys off balance.
7/06/20
Physical: Stocky and sturdy 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame with a powerful build in the lower half. Pitching: RHP - Moderate pace in the delivery with a pause at the top of the stack. Front hip got towards the target early at times but kept a straight line drive towards the plate with consistency nonetheless. The fastball worked 80-82 mph into the zone out of a high ¾ slot with a moderate takeaway on the backside. Dropped in a 69-72 mph CB demonstrating 11/5 shape out of the same slot and countered with a 76-78 mph straight change as well.
2/14/20
Physical: 5-foot-10, 220-pounds. Solid frame with strong lower half. Run: 8.03 runner in the 60. Hit: RHH. Upright, feet square just outside shoulders pre-loaded on back leg, hand are up and back with waggle. Uses leg kick while hands load down and back barrel is direct to and through the zone with uphill finish. Power: 75 MPH raw exit velocity. Line drive approach to pull side with gap potential. Defense: Controlled foot work, clean transfer into shuffle. Arm: Short arm action, ball carries across the field. INF - 73 MPH.
Pitching Delivery: Controlled pace with good balance, finishes over strong front side. Arm Action: Mid arm swing straight back out of the glove to 3/4 slot. FB: T82, 80-82 MPH. 4-seam rides through zone, 2-seam has arm side run. CB: 67-69 MPH. 11-5 shape. SL: MPH. CH: 75-78 MPH. Firm with arm side run.
