Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
A lean 5-foot-10, 135 pounds. Ran a 7.43 in the 60 yard dash and ran a 4.18 home to first. Offensively- Stands In the box in a tall stance. Takes a backward stride with the front foot. And strides forward to the pitcher before attacking the baseball. Displays a short compact swing. Full extension. Good use of lower half. Stays balanced throughout his swing. Top exit velocity 77 MPH. Defensively- Aggressive approach to the baseball. Fields the ball slightly off - center. Shows smooth funnel action. And throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Long arm action. Top throwing velocity 79 MPH. Pitching- Displayed a repeatable delivery. Takes time to gather himself from a balanced backside. Works mainly from the left side of the rubber. FB has some downward action and peaked at 75 MPH. CB has a late break at 61-64 MPH. CH has late fade and ranged from 64-66-MPh. Shows feel for an SL 61-63 MPH. LHP has some upside on the mound, and with a strength program and development could see all his measurables increase. The 2020 graduate is a must follow.
Crusaders Workout (February 10, 2018)
Flannery is a slightly built 5-foot-9 125 pound right handed hitting outfielder and left handed pitcher. He ran a 4.16 home-to-1B and a 7.43 60. Offensively- Balanced stance, feet further than shoulder width apart. Double toe tap load. Short compact swing through the zone. Two handed follow through. Consistent line drive results with balance. 73 MPH exit velocity (up 3 MPH form 10/18/17). Defensively- Aggressive when attacking the ball on the ground. Aggressive crow hop allows for a longer arm action; strong actuate throws at a peak of 77 MPH. Pitching- Sets up in the middle of the rubber, knee comes up near chest, hands just under chin. Throws around the zone, fastball sits 70-71 MPH.Good low command of off-speed with tilting slider at 61-63 MPH and change up with down action at 61-62 MPH .
Last Chance Preview (November 18, 2017)
Flannery stands in at 5-foot-9, 120-pounds with a lean frame. Ran a 7.52 – 60. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher in a balanced stance. Simple trigger with a good set up prior to the pitch delivery. Quick bat through the zone but could shorten the barrel path slightly. Tends to cast out slightly before getting extended. Lower body rotation could be more aggressive getting the legs and core more involved in the swing. Overall will get better with more reps and strength development. Demonstrated line drive potential by hitting the ball up the middle during batting practice rounds. Recorded an exit velocity of 70 MPH. Defensively- Good approach to the baseball. Moves aggressively throughout movement with a good transition from the glove to the throwing hand. Shows an appropriate outfielder arm swing with a strong follow through. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 78 MPH. Pitching- Lefty sets up on the right side of the rubber showing a high leg kick above hip above hip crease. Has good separation at the power position but could sure more of a drive down the mound to engage more of the lower body into the pitching delivery. Utilizes a high ¾ release point with repeatable mechanics. Fastball was 70-71 MPH and peaked at 73 MPH showing arm side run. Change up was 59-60 MPH with good arm side sink. Curveball was 62-63 MPH with sharp 12/6 movement.
