The athlete's fastest 60-yard dash time in the given event year. Measured in seconds (s)
7.75
Infield Velocity
The athlete's maximum throwing velocity from an infield position in the given event year. Measured in miles per hour (MPH).
77.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+
A sweeping breaking ball moves horizontally with velocity through the zone. Sweep+ of 100 is MLB average.
Physical: Tall, lean, and projectable 6-foot-2, 175lb frame with length and leverage out on the bump.
Pitching: RHP - Started off the far left side of the rubber with likeable traits; repeatable delivery with above-average tempo, getting down the slope with a full arm circle at H ¾ and clean mechanics into footstrike. Good stride length and some quickness out in front, pounding the zone at 80-82 mph with consistent arm-side run (11 inches HM average per Trackman). Mixed in a sharper, short 71-74 mph CB at an 11/5 tilt, showing bite across the plate. Then added a commanded, fading 72-74 mph CH that got good extension at release, creating deception and filling it up at a 100% zone rate.
Offensive: RHH. Starts with some bend in the knees and balanced. Feet are slightly wider than shoulder width and hands rest in front of shoulder. The load begins early and is under control. During the load the hands go up and back as the weight rocks onto the rear leg. The stride gains ground towards the pitcher and as the foot hands the hands begin to fire. Barrel is slightly down through the hitting zone with a high finish. Hits into a firm front side.
Defensively: At 3B maintained an athletic base throughout the fielding process. Uses a hop as prep and moves directionally from the hop. Showed the ability to funnel and work through the ground ball. Transferred at chest height and at the midline of the body. Arm goes into a full arm swing and releases from a 3/4 arm slot.
Pitching: Starts on the middle of the mound with both heels resting on the rubber. The glove begins in front of the face and goes down, then up again as he goes through the rocker step and leg lift. The left lift works up to chest height as he gets into his rear leg. On glove break the arm goes down and back while maintaining slight bend in the elbow. The arm circle is strong and releases from a high 3/4 slot. Projectability on the mound.
1/14/18
Defensively, young, developing player flashes soild hands. Benefit would be gained from greater commitment to working bottom up and out front while attacking and playing through the ball.
Offensively Swing is initiated from neutral set up with lift and replace stride. Separation is limited. Front foot lands excessively open leading to early hip rotation, compromised weight shift and balance issues. Swing shows intent and there is good feel for barrel. Benefit would be gained from landing more closed with stride foot and incorporating more aggressive front side weight transfer.
On the mound, Stanger works out of mid 3/4 arm slot and shows ability to repeat delivery. The stride foot lands excessively open creating arm drag. FB sitting 69-71 showed intermittent arm side run. CB thrown with 11-5 shape at 57-60 mph demonstrated rolling action. CH at 60-63 was thrown with good sell and consistent arm side fade.
