May 2017

Right handed hitting backstop; had a great game, threw out a runner at a critical point and did plenty of blocking with runners on base. Swung the bat well in the game. and has improved immensely with the barrel.

New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Toy is a slender 6-foot-2 catcher; weighing 170 pounds (up 20 pounds from July 2015). He ran a 7.86 60 (with a 7.42 on record) and plays C/1B. Offensively- Upright stance with bat noise at ear level pre-load. Good separation and bat angle as toe touch stride occurs. Hands get through zone quickly and Toy rolls off front leg after contact. Level contact and 2-hand finish just above shoulder height. Exit velocity: 87 MPH (up 4 MPH from July 2015). Defensively- Receives the ball well with very quick hands. Toy showed a quick arm action; pop time at 2.12. (2.02 at Syracuse Sportszone Tournament) Blocks balls in control and in front of the plate, arm strength: 73 MPH; with a 74 MPH last July.
Capital Region Open (July 29, 2015)
Stands a slender but athletic 6-foot-2, 150-pounds. Defensively-  Behind the plate he is confident and aggressive.  Has above average hands and footwork for a 2017.  Presents a good target to throw to.  Consistent sub 2.1's on throws to 2nd from a high 3/4 arm slot at 74mphOffensively- At the plate he stays tall to create leverage.  Uses a relaxed back load, and heel lift for timing on the pitch. Bat path is down and straight to the ball, with lift through contact.  Finish is out front and high.  Line drive hitter. Exit Velocity was 83 MPH.
