A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: Lengthy, high-waisted 6-foot, 170lb frame with projection left and athleticism in the actions. 7.15 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Open, narrow start with the hands in rhythm bouncing on the shoulder. Utilized a leg lift stride, stretching out towards the pitcher then initiating through a flat, accurate path into the hitting zone. Above-average feel for the hit tool, repeatedly hitting the ball hard on the nose to all fields en route to a 46% line drive / 55% fly ball rate split during a standout round. Stayed in the legs, blocking off properly into a stiff, adjustable front side and was able to do damage when getting extended at the front of the plate. Notched a T90 mph bat-exit velocity (via Trackman) adding a 321 foot batted ball distance at his peak (doubles power to both gaps).
Defensively: The outfielder featured advanced defensive actions, gliding to the baseball with natural feel for his body in space and a soft glove hand fielding smoothly off the left side. Easy pace and got confident reads off the bat, keeping the chest down over the toes and releasing quickly with length out in front of H ¾ slot (T85 mph arm, accurate, carry to target).
Pitching: RHP - Started tall off the left side of the rubber with fast pace to the delivery; stayed relatively upright in the posture throughout, getting to a medium stack and medium/shallow stride length, as the arm worked downhill at H ¾ and body showed athletic movements down the slope. The FB ranged from 77-78 mph at 1630rpms (heavy, strikes) pounding early in counts. Mixed a 62-64 mph curveball on an 11/5 tilt that spun well out of the hand (2200+ rpms, T13 inches HM) as the strikeout pitch and then commanded a deceptive 72-74 mph CH at 80% zone rate in any count.
4/03/21
Pitching: Works with good pace; side step into a leg lift above the belt, drives down the mound to a slightly closed landing finishing with intent over a strong front side; short arm action staying connected out of the glove to a high 3/4 slot. FB: Has ride through the top of the zone with up to 20" induced vertical break. CB: 11-5 shape with high spin (2262 RPM) flashing depth down through the zone with up to -8" vertical drop. SL: Tight break with more lateral action moving up to 9.5" horizontally. CH: Good hand speed with up to 10" arm side run.
2/18/21
Physical: Well put together, athletic 6-foot, 175-pound frame with feel for his body in all phases. 7.50 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - The lefty started from a loose, open stance with slight rhythm in the hands above the shoulder; utilized an on-time lift and replace stride in order to initiate the bat head through an accurate, flat path into the hitting zone; repeatedly peppered the ball hard through the middle of the field (36% line drive rate). Developing bat to ball skills with a 58% on plane efficiency, but showed immense confidence at the plate; had a plan and rarely missed the barrel. A 22.7 mph hand speed points towards ability to handle upper level velocity with no issues. Recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 89 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary outfielder approached with an up tempo pace, down chest angles and stayed over the toes with the momentum, confidence in a soft glove hand off the left foot, nice flexibility in a whippy, high ¾ slot on the way through (live 84 mph arm strength). Ability to handle at least two of the three outfield spots with a quick first step.
7/22/20
Physical: Long, slender 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame with projectability in the build. 7.56 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH. Tall, open stance with a slight bend in the knees as the hands start near the ear in the setup. Utilized a comfortable loading mechanism in the leg-hang stride to initiate a barrel that was on time and worked through a fluid, flat barrel path with lift after contact. Repeatedly was on time at the front of the plate yielding hard contact at head height to the pull-side during batting practice. Showcased the ability to take the same results and transfer them to game action where he recorded multiple hits. Registered a top bat-exit velocity of 85 mph according to Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary outfielder demonstrated feel for long, fluid movements during defensive evaluations. Played with advanced momentum through the fielding window while attacking the ball out in front off of the inside of his left foot. Displayed rangy actions to the glove hand side and ability to track down balls in the air. The arm was accurate through a long, high ¾ slot. OF - 82 mph
2/17/20
Physical: 5-foot-10, 155-pounds. Long, lean build. Run: 7.64 runner in the 60. Hit: LHH. Tall and narrow as well as open; small leg lift into long stride; high two-handed finish; good hands to get through the zone Solid contact; a lot of barreled up baseballs; middle to pull side hitter. Power: 82 MPH raw exit velocity. Pull side tendencies; showed power to pull side gap. Defense: Quick transfer into small pro step; fields the ball on glove side foot; does a good job attacking the ball and cutting down distance. Arm: 3/4 arm slot; short arm action. OF - 77 MPH.
Pitching Delivery: Steady pace, coils lower half with a leg lift to the waist before striding out in line to a repeatable follow through on a firm front side. Arm Action: Short arm action with a high 3/4 release. FB: T76, 73-76 MPH. Locates in the zone with some tail. CB: 60-61 MPH. Commands with 12-6 shape. CH: 70-71 MPH. Locates down with good arm speed.
10/14/19
At the plate, the left handed hitter stands in the box in a open tall stance. Short simple load actions. Enters the hitting zone with a flat bat path. Stays balanced and finishes in an upright position. Defensively, the outfielder displayed an aggressive approach to the baseball. Fields the baseball sightly off center. Displayed an accurate arm on throws to the plate. On the mound, the right handed pitcher displayed a balanced repeatable delivery. Works mainly from the left side of the rubber. Works off a mid knee high leg lift and works down hill with low effort. The RHP worked with a three pitch mix. The 2022 graduate is a must follow.
