The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: The recent Northeastern commit stands a very athletic, projectable 6-foot-3, 190lbs with strength found. 7.18 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Wider, slightly bent stance with the hands waving high at the head in rhythm; utilized a shorter leg lift stride to initiate a leveraged, flat path into the hitting zone while producing big lift to the pull-side during his batting practice round. Able to generate consistent, clean contact with plus bat to ball skills at his size (30% line drive rate, 70% hard hit rate via Trackman). Backspun the baseball for distance to the LCF gap, up to a 350 foot batted ball distance on one of his home-runs. Recorded a T96 mph bat-exit velocity with bat-speed flashing on the inner half; strong middle of the order threat with a high offensive ceiling.
Defensively: The shortstop moved around with ready pace from a medium/high posture, bending at the waist on-time with lengthy, rangy steps and releasing with easy arm strength up to 84 mph across the diamond from H ¾. Showed off the athleticism, making plays on the run look routine and might be a candidate for a move to third base/first base down the road due to a larger frame (additional strength/power coming).
Pitching: RHP - Started off the far left side of the rubber operating from the stretch-only; quick, higher leg lift holding tempo down the slope into footstrike; got downhill through release at H ¾ and over the front side leg, creating a heavy 82-84 mph FB at just above 1500rpms average. Mixed a two-plane, 72-74 mph breaker with depth and consistent bite across the plate as the strikeout offering (43% zone rate, leveraged).
3/27/21
Pitching: Fluid delivery building momentum with a leg lift and coil before driving down the mound utilizing an efficient lower half to a flat back follow through. Short, quick arm action to a natural 3/4 release.
FB: Commands with life and ride through the zone. SL: Good feel for the tight breaker with 10-4 shape. CH: Tunnels out of FB release with arm side fade up to 15"
2/17/21
Physical: Large, XL 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame with high level athleticism exuding from the movements. 7.39 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - The righty started from a loose, upright position with quick rhythm in the hands pre-load, utilized a leg lift stride in order to initiate the bat head through a slightly uphill path showing off increased barrel awareness at the plate. Stayed behind the ball well with fluidity throughout a short, accurate swing; peppered the LCF gap with hard line drive contact giving way to deep fly balls on occasion. One of the better overall hit tools in the ‘23 class with an ease in the operation; recorded a near 380 foot batted ball distance pointing towards easy home run juice to the pull-side at the moment, a 97 mph bat-exit velocity (92 mph average) gives even more confidence he can handle a middle of the order role at the next level. Big time power ceiling down the line (27.9 G’s of rotational acceleration) and has a good chance of reaching it.
Defensively: The primary middle infielder featured above-average footwork in the middle arriving on time with a purpose at the fielding window with timing in the left foot getting down, ranged well to the glove hand side with feel for pace, accurate 87 mph arm strength across leaving no doubts he’ll stick on the left side moving forward. Looks like he’ll most likely slide over to a third base position at the next level where he can be more comfortable / natural in the actions at his size, the bat leads the way right now with an incredibly high ceiling.
9/11/20
Physical: 6-foot-2, 185 pounds; athletic, lean build. 7.46 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Narrow feet, keeps the back knee slightly internally rotated to maintain load; uses a small hitch in the hands to initiate timing, loads the back leg. Jumps out of his back leg load slightly, rotates the hips effectively with level swing path, stays on plane throughout most of his swing. Presents good bat to ball skills. Slapped the ball to the pull side and hit line drives back up the middle as well; peak Trackman exit velocity of 91 MPH. Defensively: Walks into his position and keeps some bend in the waist; Takes choppy steps to the ball and to get around it. Bends at the waist to field the ball with good hands and an easy transfer; short takeback and gets arm flipped up in time to throw from a rigid 3/4 slot. INF - 81 MPH. Pitching: Smooth delivery and strides down the mound while keeping his upper half closed, creating quality hip-shoulder separation. Similar arm action to how he throws from SS. FB: Peak velo of 83 MPH, while sitting 80-83 MPH. Displayed a FB with good velo and spin, giving him the ability to throw up in the zone. SL: 73-75 MPH. Presented a SL with good tilt, could be a good pitch in the arsenal if he continues to develop it.
