NY All-Star Games (September 17, 2016)
Kot stands in at 5-foot-10, 205-pounds with a strong football player frame. Ran a 7.42 – 60, slightly higher than his previous best recorded time of 7.34. Offensively- Sets up with an open stance with his feet shoulder width apart. Slight knee bend with an upright torso. His hands are just in front of his back shoulder with slight pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch his trigger is a stride forward onto his toe before landing on his foot while his hands move back into a good hitting position. Quick hands into the hitting zone with a slight uppercut into a high two handed finish;  showing gap to gap power potential. Lower body rotation is good getting whole frame into swing.  Recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph, 1 mph off his previous recorded best. Defensively- Quick mechanics behind the plate on throws. Good footwork and transfer recording a 2.18 pop time. Quiet body while framing and good mechanics while blocking. Will get better as he gets stronger; recorded a positional velocity of 66 mph. Staying on top of the ball will create a better downward angle on throws.
NY Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Kot has a full-bodied; 210-pound frame at 5-foot-10 tall. Runs a 7.34 (decreased time by .18 seconds since 2/2015) 60. Offensively- Tall, open stance with hands starting just above the shoulder. Smooth bat rhythm with small leg kick to toe touch load. Weight begins on backside and transfers well to to the front leg with nice barrel lift. Finishes high with 2 hands and exit velocity of 83 MPH (high of 84 MPH in Feb). Line drive/gap potential. Defensively- Kot has smooth footwork at 3B and sets himself up nicely to make a strong throw across the diamond. Over the top release, and attacks ball on the run with ease. Infield velocity:  70 MPH, down from his peak of 77 in Feb.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2015)
M att stands in at a compact 5-foot-10 205 pound C/3B who ran a 7.52 60 and a 4.28 home-to-1B. Offensively- At the plate Matt sets up slightly open with his weight pre-loaded and bat angle at 30 degrees. Loads bottom hand, pushing barrel over his head while taking a short stride back to even. Drives up on back foot, clearing lower half out. Short and compact to contact with an elevated finish. Stays through the middle of the field well with line drive results. Exit velocity was 84 MPH off the tee. Defensively- Matt worked out both behind the plate and as an infielder. As a catcher he uses a compact, primary setup to throw from. Footwork is efficient, staying tight to the plate with a quick glove to hand transfer. Slight hesitation with arm action that causes a loss of momentum. Throws were accurate and online but could benefit from better carry. Pop times ranged from 2.02-2.22. As an infielder Matt projects well here. Active feet to and through the ball. Displayed soft hands and a quick release. Arm strength is their with a peak velocity of 77 MPH, just a matter of getting better carry to remain on the left side of the infield (3B).
