Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 165lb frame with a wiry build. 7.28 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, even stance at a slightly upright position as the hands began off the shoulder. Utilized a reel raise to initiate the bat head through a flat, direct path into the hitting zone. Showcased quick turns and a pull-side approach, producing a repeatable top hand in the swing and notched a 25% fly ball rate during his round (via Trackman). Worked up to a 290 foot batted ball distance for doubles power on occasion to the LCF gap; liked to drive pitches out over the plate (T88 mph bat-exit velocity).
Defensively: The middle infielder hopped around during defense, using a prep step to gain ground early in the route. Fluid, active feet and maintained posture over the front side after fielding. Clean funnels and a quick transfer into the waist, releasing from a H ¾ slot (79 mph arm).
2/18/21
Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with feel for his body across the board; 7.56 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - The righty started from a balanced, even stance slightly backloaded into the right side drive leg; utilized a toe tap stride in order to unleash the barrel through a high, flat path towards impact. Good extension after contact, holding a deep position well and allowing the barrel to go out and do the damage; recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 90 mph per Trackman Baseball while peppering line drives through the middle of the field at a 54% rate. Liked to get the arms extended out on pitches over the plate, handled the inner half too with a quicker, shorter swing in the arsenal. Solid hitter overall that notched a near 300 foot batted ball distance as well (doubles power).
Defensively: The primary shortstop featured adequate actions during defensive evaluations, could get hitchy on some routes, but mostly stayed balanced from a wide, lengthy approach, showed the glove out in front early, and stayed loose on throws from a high ¾ slot (81 mph). Chance to stick on the left side moving forward.
7/22/20
Physical: Lean and athletic 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame with plenty of projectability found throughout the build. 7.07 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Balanced, even stance with a slight bend in the knees in the setup. Utilized a lift and replace stride to initiate a short and twitchy, slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. The lower half was quick and drove with intent towards impact allowing the hands to follow deep through extension. Showcased natural lift to the pull-side gap during batting practice but could drive the ball the other way if pitched out over the plate. Demonstrated advanced feel for the barrel and a mature approach at the plate, was always connected to the ground in the box allowing for above average consistency in his timing. Recorded a top bat-exit velocity of 87 mph per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary shortstop flashed rangy lateral movements with fluidity in the actions as he approached the ball loosely while getting downhill through the fielding window. Utilized a low center of gravity with the glove hand playing nicely out in front and played at a quality pace across the diamond from the left side of the infield. Showed off an accurate, low ¾ slot in the arm with ability to make plays on the run from the same angle. INF - 77 mph
2/18/20
Physical: 5-foot-10, 150-pounds. Long limbs; potential for more weight. 7.8 runner in the 60; 4.78 home-to-1B. Offensively: RHH. Slightly open; leg kick into long stride; wide stance; good athletic base with some bend in his knees; hunches over slightly when he loads Upwards swing path; middle of the field hitter; consistent contact; level finish both one-handed and two. Contact hitter up the middle; showed potential pop to pull-side gap. 75 MPH raw exit velocity. Defensively: Quick transfer and release; good footwork laterally; lets the ball get a little too deep; smooth flip turning two. Low 3/4 arm slot; medium arm swing. INF - 70 MPH.
