Physical: XL 6-foot-1, 200lb frame with strength exuding in the actions.
Offensively: RHH - Upright, narrow stance as the hands started high by the head. Utilized a subtle leg hang, moving outward to the pitcher before initiating through a flat, lifted path into the hitting zone. Matched pitch plane well before driving high towards the finish on the backside, producing a lofty approach during his BP round; notched a 55% FB rate (via Trackman) working up to a 344 foot batted ball distance at his peak. Delivered the barrel with intent at the front of the plate, gaining leverage at times for hard pull-side contact. A stiff front side blocked off properly, propelling consistently quick bat-speeds that phased into a T93 mph bat-exit velocity for doubles power.
Defensively: The backstop featured a soft glove hand at the catch from a traditional crouch, using subtle hand movements at the attack. Pop times ranged from 2.09-2.22 with pre-catch rhythm and lower, glute oriented posture on his move towards the bag (replaced feet well, accurate H ¾ slot, 74 mph arm). Natural catch/throw feel with ability to land on arm-side of the bag, stayed under the pitch.
Physical: Strong, connected 6-foot-1, 200lb frame with big-time physicality traits. 7.71 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, narrow stance that starts slightly open with a minor bend in the knees; the hands operated calmly, moving subtly backward to the shoulder at launch on-time with a leg lift stride through a flat path into the hitting zone. High-effort, violent lift at the leverage point (front of the plate) creating natural loft in the approach (50% fly ball rate via Trackman) and occasional home run juice to the pull-side. Handled pitches with ease up in the zone for loud results, working up to T95 mph exit velocity and near 350 foot batted ball distance during his batting practice round. Good connection in the swing and future middle of the order considerations with the frame and overall success. Hunts FB’s in game action with healthy cuts before two strikes.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured a traditional setup in the crouch, flashing a soft glove hand on the corners when receiving. Pop times ranged from 2.00-2.07 with pre-set rhythm, shifting the hips and base slightly in-line to the target before the catch/throw, getting rid cleanly with very nice actions from H ¾ slot (73 mph arm, accurate). Natural feel behind the dish and worked hard to manipulate receive posture based on pitch-height to control the run game.
Physical: 6-1, 210-pound, thick and durable frame with present strength in the actions. 8.04 runner in the 60 yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Open, slightly bent stance with the hands showing slight rhythm on the shoulder in the setup. Utilized an easy timing mechanism combination; slight hand movement backward on the load coupled with a repeatable lift and replace stride. Entered the hitting zone through a short and connected, slightly uphill path allowing for loud contact to the pull-side and occasional home run pop. Hit into a stiff front side with present weight shift at the point of contact and featured advanced bat to ball skills as well. Recorded an advanced 93 mph bat-exit velocity during batting practice per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: Displayed a soft glove hand while receiving behind the dish, beating the ball to the spot and pops ranged from 2.18-2.24 on accurate throws on the bag out of a high ¾ slot with a moderate takeaway. The transfers could get quicker, but strong straight line footwork allowed him to get directional towards the target in a hurry. Demonstrated soft walls to either side of the plate while blocking with recovery ability in game. C - 68 mph
6-foot-1, 215-pound, strong, solid, thick durable athletic frame. A right-handed hitting catcher, at the plate, a wider setup, with even feet. The bat starts in a flat position, lower half is under control, gaining ground. The swing is level to up, good extension through the baseball, more middle to pull side approach. The finish is high with one hand, creating a ton of backspin to the baseball, has enough juice to beat the outfielders. The exit velocity was clocked at 91 mph, baseball jumps off his bat. Behind the plate, had a pop time of 2.06-2.12, with arm being clocked at 72 mph. The arm gets a tick long, could shorten to drop the time. The hands are strong on the catch, gets around the baseball on the catch, quick to block to the scramble. One of the better players in the class of 2023.
Exit Velocity: 91 mph
Arm Velocity: 72 mph
Sixty-Yard Dash: 7.79
A big bodied right-handed hitter, creates a ton of bat speed, tee exit velocity clocked at 85 mph. The approach is all pull, once he learns to let the baseball travel, will have above average power to all fields. Arm strength is advanced from behind the plate at 68 mph, had a pop time of 2.10-2.22. Big follow for me.
