Strong bodied with good size to his frame. Thick lower half. Simple stance at the plate with no wasted movement. Hands work to the ball quickly and he generates consistent hard contact. Aggressive approach with some good pull-side power.

Preseason All State (February 20, 2017)
Vachon, a 2019 well built right-handed hitting catcher currently ranked as the 4th best catching prospect for the 2019 class, stands at 6-foot-0 and weighs 225 pounds, ran a 7.38 60, but has been as quick as 7.28 in the past. Offensively- Hits from a square balanced wider lower half, slight bend with both knees with the feet outside the shoulder, hands above the back shoulder with the barrel of the bat slightly greater than 45-degrees. Gets to the launch phase of the swing with a subtle shift of weight to the back side while the lead foot elevates with a moderate stride towards the pitcher while the hands are loaded even with the back shoulder with the barrel of the bat getting a slight wrap to the pitcher. Drove the ball well from the pull side line to the center of the field, keeping the hands in sequence behind the rotation of the hips as well as staying compact to the ball. Recorded an impressive exit velocity of 91 MPH, (+3 MPH from July), on the day. Defensively- Square primary stance with some stiffness to the receiving arm as the elbow stays locked, although the hand does get a slight quarter turn getting into a relaxed position, while the pitch approaches the zone. On throws to second base, transferred the ball from the center of the body chest height, with a pushing action of the glove. The throwing arm gets wrapped behind the head, causing a premature pulling of the lead arm causing the throwing arm to cast away from the body from the power position to the release. With a cleaner transfer and shorter arm action, throws will improve carry as well as the arm velocity of 74 MPH (+3 MPH from last event), as well as the 2.07 pop time recorded, but has been a quick as 2.01 at past events.
