Big Apple Preview (October 15, 2017)
Anglero stands in at 6-foot-4, 174-pounds with a tall, lean athletic frame. Ran a 7.41 – 60. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso hold the bat in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a quick stride forward while his hands move back slightly into his hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing the hips using his whole-body frame in the pitch. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with level barrel action throughout into a high one-handed finish. Demonstrated potential gap to gap power during batting practice round with clean fluid swings. Recorded an exit velocity of 81 MPH. Defensively- Shows a good approach getting to and under the baseball. Needs to have a better setup when catching fly balls in order to be set up to throw which will help with getting the ball in quicker. Strong arm from the outfield recording a positional arm velocity of 81 MPH. Pitching- Sets up on the left side of the rubber with a simple side step into a high leg kick above his hip crease. Good drive down with appropriate separation getting into a good throwing position with a mid ¾ release point. Utilizes whole body when throwing and repeats delivery on different pitches with easy mechanics. Fastball sat 82-84 MPH and peaked at 84 MPH with good arm side run. Slider shows action but will need more development to get more rotation out of the hand and is 65-67 MPH. Talented 2019 prospect that will get better with continued development and added strength.
