A wiry 6-foot-2, 160 pounds projectable frame. Ran a 7.25 60 yard dash. Offensively- the left handed hitter stands in the box with feet shoulder width apart. Hands rest in the load position. Quick to the hitting zone with a slight lift at the point of contact. Balanced throughout the swing. Projects as a contact type hitter at the college level. Top exit velocity was 77 MPH. Defensively- as an OF, aggressive to the ball, stays under control. Smooth exchange to a quick release on throws to the plate. Gathers his feet in a good position to make a strong throw. Top throwing velocity from the OF was 74 MPH. As an Inf, slightly upright when fielding the baseball. Smooth exchange to a long release on throws across the diamond. Top throwing velocity was 65 MPH across the diamond.
Feb. 21 (HOS Preseason Event) Gillison stands at 6-foot-0, 160 pounds athletic frame with good growth potential. Ran a 7.88-60. Offensively-lefty with slightly wider than shoulder width stance. Hands held below the shoulders, barrel to the sky. Slight foot raise to engage with short stride. Barrel path flat through the zone, at times at an incline following contact with one arm finish. Arm strength measured at 76-MPH. Defensively- athletic approach to the ball with an even base, slight bend at the knees, measured at 72-MPH from the outfield. At first base, fluid fielding with quick glove to hand transfer. Arm at a high 3/4- measured at 70-MPH across the diamond. Last Chance Preview- Downstate (November 18, 2017)
Gillison is a 5-foot-11 150 pound left-handed first baseman. Tall and lanky with room to fill out; ran a 7.88 60. Offensively- Starts with legs slightly further than shoulder width apart. Hands away from body, bat at a 45 degree angle. Minimal pre pitch movement. Brings front foot forward towards pitcher on load. Quick hands through the zone; 76 MPH exit velocity. Smooth swing with Line drive results; uses the whole field. Additional lower half effort; shorter swing path will bump his game another level. Defensively- Moves well to the ball, fields off of the heels. Footwork will improve with age and physical maturity. Quick hands allow for a fast transfer and strong through to the bags. 65 MPH arm strength. Overall foundation can be built upon for the 2021 grad.
